In his post game presser, CKW said "we got beat on the edges a couple of times, and we have to find a way to help these guys out".

This is not news. We have been getting beat off the edges ever since CKW and Russ Grimm have been here. Many people have been clamoring for the coaching staff to help the OT's out. Yet the scheme, (for the most part), leaves them alone on an island.

Why not rely much more heavily on the jumbo package? Throwing to Doucett has been iffy from the time he got here. He still drops about half his targeted passes, and has been doing so for years now. Why not go with 2 TE's, (at least one of whom can help out the Tackle), and have the other chip the edge rusher on his side as he goes into his pattern. Housler seems to be a much more reliable receiver than Doucett or the new kid from Notre Dame have been. (If it is just a confidence thing with the new kid, put him at #3 instead of Doucett). Lord knows Doucett has had enough attempts over the years to have more than proven himself by now. He just hasn't done it. So let the newbie get his snaps and maybe he will get the confidence he needs.

Meanwhile, we can run the ball much more easily out of the backfield from the Jumbo Package than out of the shotgun. We did so early in the game. In fact, Kolb narrowly missed Housler down the middle for what would have been a TD, had they connected. We could also mix in some screens and draws to slow the rush out of that package.

I have heard that we don't know how to block for a screen pass. (You don't block them up front), you allow the rushers to come free, and keep dropping the QB until the TE or the Back is free to catch and run. Our OL already know how to let the rushers come free, so teaching that concept should be easy.

Doucet is a solid receiver. Don't hate. Kolb can't put the ball where his guys can catch it.

The reason we don't run more of the jumbo package is because we only have two healthy tight ends, and one of them can't/won't block. Also, we don't like to run the ball because it's not as fun.

Well thank goodness it was that simple to fix the issue. Man this coaching thing is overrated.

I'm not hating on Doucet. I just feel that he has had plenty of time to get better, and hasn't shown real consistency, (though he did make a couple of really good catches recently). I just feel that we may as well give Floyd as many opportunities as we have given Doucet over the years. Having made those two catches probably gave the staff the idea to go to him again last night, with more of the same than we have seen from him over the years, about half of them drops.

I just hope CKW's solution is not to take the play calling back again.

LOL...that is hilarious. I just don't get his nonchalant demeanor when it comes to things like that. That is like saying the Hindenburg had a small glitch.

It is called the politics of the position. Seriously, would you tell the passengers of the Hindenburg or the Titanic the truth? Whis knows, come on...that message is meant for the media and not what he tells the players because the media does not play for him and is only looking to start controversy. I would say about the same.

I hope he takes it to heart. I've been screaming about it from the first game. Give Kolb more time and I believe he can be the QB to lead us. Everything is going to revolve around the offensive line. I hope they can find a way to fix it.

Fish, we appeared to do exactly what you wanted early on, especially the first half. IMO it seemed we panicked & went exclusively spread shotgun the second half because its what Kolb has been most successful throwing the ball out of so far this year, even though the score was only 10-3.

Doucet let a 1st-down catch go right through his hands early on. For that, he earns oodles of hate.

Tons of receivers do that every Sunday (and Thursday and Monday) in the NFL. Fitz did it, too. Does he earn oodles of hate?

To say that Doucet drops half the passes thrown to him is just not true. Doucet is a physical presence in the run blocking game and a reliable target in the passing game. He's a solid receiver, and an above-average #3.

And if he were playing in an offense where the ball occasionally hit him in stride, he'd be among the YAC leaders.

I should have added a smilie...I just wanted to use oodles in a sentence. No, he doesn't drop half the passes thrown to him, but he did earn criticism in this game for a glaring drop. Fitz dropped a ball...like, the 2nd in 4 years or something. Difference is, Fitz still had a solid game. Doucet...not so much. Not that he had much of a chance to, but that highlights his drop all the more.

Doucet had 3 receptions for 29 yards. Better YPC than Andre Roberts.

If all these Cardinal offensive players are so good why is our offense so bad? It's always something.

2 years ago the QBs stunk and every one else was great. Now it's the offensive line stinks and everyone else is great. But we still get to watch a bottom 10 offense every year. You'd think the football gods would let us have a good offense and defense at the same time more than once every 25 years. :(

Hell just give me a Super Bowl title...I don't care if we have the Trent Dilfer offense & the defense of the '76 Sucs :D

Let me just see that day & God can take me, though I was 2 mins from the afterlife in 2009. ;)
