Softball
Assumption 10, Post 1; Assumption 10, Post 0: Maddy Bland was 2 for 3 with a three-run double in the first inning of the first game, and Kaitlyn Cahill of Grafton went 3 for 3 in the nightcap with a double, triple and three runs for the visiting Greyhounds (7-15) in a sweep of five-inning games in Waterbury, Connecticut.
Assumption, which lost its first 10 games, extended its winning streak to six.
Holy Cross 8, Stonehill 4; Stonehill 11, Holy Cross 8: Ali Snegocki hit her second homer of the day, then Callie Thibault made it back-to-back in a five-run eighth inning in the opener for the Crusaders (5-19) in a doubleheader split in Easton. HC's Emma Fong homered twice with four RBIs in Game 2, and teammate Anna Brait went 4 for 4 with two doubles.
Nichols 2, Wellesley 1; Wellesley 2, Nichols 0: Erin Gour doubled in Allie Silliman with the winning run in the ninth inning of the first game for the visiting Bison (11-3), and Chelsea Indyk struck out eight and allowed just one unearned run in the eighth. Silliman had two hits in the nightcap, but the Blue (5-5) halted Nichols' nine-game winning streak.
Westfield State 9, Anna Maria 1; Westfield State 8, Anna Maria 0: Gabby Vazquez (double) and Emily Colp had the hits for the visiting AmCats (5-6) in the first game, and Kiki Hicks singled in the second.
Baseball
Clark 16, Lesley 0: Chas Caron went 3 for 3 with a triple and two RBIs, and Alfonso Jalil (2 for 5) capped a nine-run seventh inning with a three-run homer for the visiting Cougars (13-4) against the Lynx (4-9). Casey Corczyca, Jacob Kline and Heath Cockburn combined on a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts.
Nichols 9, Wesleyan 5: Ryan Keating was 3 for 5 with a home run, and Ben Jerome and Anthony Hackert each had two hits as the Bison (7-6) outslugged the Cardinals (5-8) in Middletown, Connecticut.
Molloy 12, Assumption 8: Jamison Howland went 3 for 5 with a homer and three RBIs for the Greyhounds (2-19) in a loss to the Lions (13-8) in Uniondale, New York. Teammates Cody Smith and Matt Holbrook each added two hits.
Women's lacrosse
Nichols 17, Wentworth 8: Hadley Houghton scored on 6 of 7 shots on goal and also had an assist as the host Bison improved to 8-0, in the CNE opener for both teams. Nichols' Kristen Ruby and Sienna Reeves added two goals each.
Johnson & Wales 15, Worcester State 12: Mckayla Fisher scored four times for the visiting Lancers (5-4), but the Wildcats (5-2) pulled away from an 11-11 tie after three quarters. Johnson & Wales goalie Emma Glyman finished with 16 saves.
Lasell 15, Anna Maria 7: Riley Michaud and Christine Ijawet each tallied twice with an assist for the host AmCats (0-8, 0-4) in a setback to the Lasers (5-3, 2-2).
MIT 23, Clark 1: Aubrey Conners scored in the first quarter for the visiting Cougars (3-6, 1-2 NEWMAC) in a loss to the Engineers (3-4, 2-0).
Men's lacrosse
Wentworth 17, Nichols 5: John Caserta netted three goals for the host Bison (2-8, 0-1 CNE), but they were shut out in first and third quarters by the Leopards (8-2, 1-0).
Men's volleyball
Springfield 3, Nichols 1: Jack Normandin had 10 kills, and Dylan Knapp added nine for the host Bison (13-13) in a loss to the third-ranked Pride (19-2). Set scores were 25-22, 21-25, 25-18, 25-21.
