Justin Bethel - 6 - 53 - 11.3%
Chris Clemmons - 0 - 53 - 17.6%

1-I know that Deone plays as a LB, but he is a S. With that in mind, only two LBs (Okafor and Minter) played over 50% of defensive snaps. That should make clear the utter lack of talent we have at the LB position overall.

2-This isn't a knock against Kevin Minter and Deone Bucannon, but again, with all of their deficiencies no other LB on the roster can beat them out for snaps. That says a lot and Keim gets the blame for this one.

3-David Johnson got 48.6% of snaps following 31% vs San Fran and had his worst game. K9 had mentioned on another thread that the coaches bumped up his workload this game. It didn't feel like it for me when watching, but it was true.

4-My guess is Ellington comes in and takes David Johnson's role when healthy keeping Chris Johnson at around 50% of snaps.

5-I'm going to fire a shot at Steve Keim here. Thru the first four game sof the season, Cory Redding and Sean Weatherspoon have combined to play 112 of the 500 defensive snaps this year. That calculates out to 22% of defensive snaps. Their combined pay this year will be $5.85 mil.

6-Rodney Gunter was the only other defensive lineman other than Rucker and Campbell to play over 22% of defensive snaps. Not much of a rotation this week

7-That being said, the Rams only ran 53 offensive plays this week. To put this in perspective, the 49ers ran 51 last week.

8-Calais Campbell's usage was back to normal, verifying that he got pulled from the game last week which was why his numbers were down.

9-Interesting to see what the Cardinals do with Powers next year. His contract will be up, and he has played a ton during his time here is AZ. How much is he worth, or how much can the Cardinals afford to pay him? he is making 5.3 mil this year.

10-Frustrating 2015 salary cap facts per over the cap
Sean Weatherspoon - $3.85 mil
Cory Redding - $2.00 mil
Corey Peters - $2.66 mil
Daryl Washington - $3.00 mil
Darnell Dockett - $3.00 mil
Daryn Colledge - $2.275 mil
Ted Ginn - $1.5 mil

Over 18 mil spent on these guys, close to 20 if your count Matt Shaughnessy. That is one hell of an ILB. I understand not all of these numbers are equal, but it is hard to ignore when our LB corp is so bad.

I hate seeing that the offense had 74 snaps to the rams 53 snaps and they still lost.

I wish they would give us reasons for not playing Weatherspoon rather then us trying to guess why. Like someone said before, why is Golden active when we could bring up Williams? Is Golden playing on ST?

I feel like Spoon's comments about preserving himself because of his one-year deal rubbed the coaches the wrong way; otherwise, he'd be playing 75%+ of the snaps.

This tells a worse story IMO

On offense, I thought we'd continue to use a lot of 2 & 3 TE formations against the Rams, as we did against SF. That didn't happen.

Fells role remained the same with 82% and 85% of offensive snaps; however, Niklas and Greshams's touches plumeted. We ran the same number of plays on offense in the two games, though they participated in 43 less snaps.

The extra snaps went to Michael Floyd, who was in 52 plays over his 31 last week. David Johnson also added 13 plays over last week, for his career high of 36 touches on offense, two short of CJ's load for the game.

On Defense... 39 Snaps for Weatherspoon. That is for the first quarter of the season, none of which were against the Rams. I'm usually a bit of an optimist, but I think Sean is looking like the Ted Ginn of the 2015 season. Well, at least Ginn made it onto the field. Sean's not even playing on ST. sad.

As for the LB's, it does seem that the coaching staff doesn't trust anyone outside of Minter and Oakafor. They, along with Buchanon took almost all Defensive snaps. Half of the 4th LB spot went to Woodley, who switched out with Golden, presumably on passing downs.

Go Cards!!!

we could use more kareem martin considering our inability to put pressure
we are using too much defensive backs, squeezing them and honestly outside of peterson and mathieu we dont have a great talent that justify the use of multiple defensive backs on the field
rashard johnson could be a smart dude, intelligent, but rarely i saw a safety slower then him
probably he is fast like a defensive tackle

Against the Rams, I'm showing Golden on only 8 ST plays... 27%.
He added 11 plays on Def, 21%.

Kenny Demens and Alan Fua both were in on 67% of ST plays.

You're looking at Markus Golden — the OLB.

My stats are on Brittan Golden — the WR.

This tells a worse one.

Sean Weatherspoon - 0 - 53 - 0.0% = $3.85 mil in 2015.

Corey Redding - 10 - 53 - 18.9% = $2.0 mil in 2015.

I'm not going to really sweat Redding's deal. $2M is probably appropriate for a veteran defensive lineman.

Weatherspoon's is problematic. He might be making more than the rest of the ILB corps put together — maybe the entire linebacker unit.

I would worry if it stays this way all season and after some guys miss games due to injury - if Minter or Bucannon go down, I would feel more comfortable with Spoon stepping in rather than (cut) Carson or (fat & slow) Minter, as was the case last year.

Now if Spoon isn't getting snaps at that point...

I wish they would give us reasons for not playing Weatherspoon

hes not very good anymore

With all the 100%'s in the secondary it is no wonder they ran all over us in the 4th quarter.

I understand the team (unsuccessfully) addressed it's biggest need in the draft, but wouldn't Stephone Anthony be looking good in a Cardinals uniform?

I really wish we would activate Riddick. We could use his quick burst off the line.

I'm not even sure Lamar Woodley is still getting PT at all.

I hope that we see Markus Golden start to jump ahead in snaps sooner rather than later. If not, I wonder about the skill set that they drafted. It would be a repeat of the Minter - Larry Foote debacle.
