Not too bad for tomorrow....
Weekend freeway closures scheduled, drivers urged to use alternate
routes when possible.
Several freeway improvement projects will require closures or lane
restrictions this weekend (Nov. 12-15). The Arizona Department of
Transportation (ADOT) recommends that drivers use alternate routes if
possible while the following restrictions are in place:
* US 60 (Superstition Freeway) will be closed in both directions
at Val Vista Drive from 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Nov. 15) for
bridge expansion work. Traffic will exit and re-enter the freeway using the
ramps at the Val Vista interchange. Val Vista Drive will be closed in
both directions at the freeway to allow a free flow of US 60 traffic
along the ramps. Drivers also should consider using Baseline Road or
Southern Avenue as alternate east-west routes.
* Meanwhile, US 60 will be narrowed to two lanes in each direction
at Stapley Drive from 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Sunday (Nov. 14) for
bridge improvement work. Drivers also can use Baseline Rd. or Southern Ave.
as alternate routes in that area. The interchange ramps at Stapley will
remain open.
* Westbound I-10 will be closed between 7th St. and 7th Ave. from
11 p.m. Saturday to 6 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 14) for maintenance and camera
system work inside the Deck Park Tunnel. Traffic will exit at 7th Street and
travel west on McDowell Rd. before re-entering the freeway at 7th Ave.
Westbound I-10 drivers also can detour onto northbound I-17 near Sky
Harbor International Airport and rejoin I-10 at the Stack Interchange
west of 19th Ave.
* Westbound Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) will be narrowed to one
lane between I-17 and 35th Ave. from 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday
(Nov. 15) for freeway pavement replacement work. The westbound Loop 101 entrance ramp at 27th Ave. also will be closed. Drivers can use Union
Hills Drive or Deer Valley Road as alternate westbound routes before
re-entering the Loop 101 at 35th Avenue. The northbound I-17 ramp to
westbound Loop 101 will be narrowed to one lane.
* Southbound State Route 143 (Hohokam Expressway) will be closed
between McDowell Rd. and Washington St. from 6 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Saturday (Nov. 13) for rubberized asphalt paving work. The eastbound Loop 202 ramps to north and southbound SR 143 will also be closed. Meanwhile,
the westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) will be narrowed to one lane between Van Buren St. and State Route 143 from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Saturday (Nov. 13) for rubberized asphalt paving work. Drivers should consider using Van Buren or Washington streets before re-entering the westbound Loop 202 at 40th St.
