Weinsteins reunite with Miramax

http://news.msn.com/pop-culture/weinsteins-reunite-with-miramax

Harvey and Bob Weinstein are reuniting with the film company they founded.

Miramax is currently owned by a group of owners, including the equity firm Colony Capital. The library includes hundreds of films, many of them from the heyday of 1990s independent cinema, including "Pulp Fiction."

The Weinstein Co. says it plans to develop TV series based on the films "Good Will Hunting" and "Flirting With Disaster." It also is exploring sequels or TV shows out of "Swingers" and "Shakespeare in Love."

I love Swingers, but that is such a 90s hipster movie, how would a sequel be received nowadays?

And how many here are clamoring for a sequel to Shakespeare in Love? Show of hands...

Thought so.

The Weinsteins Plan Shakespeare in Love, Rounders Sequels and Swingers, Good Will Hunting, Flirting With Disaster TV Series

“I’ve discussed making Rounders 2 with Matt Damon and I would say that’s going to be instantaneous,” Weinstein told the outlet, teasing a bit about the sequel. “The guys [writers David Levien and Brian Koppelman] have a great idea, a way to make it more international where you start the card game in Paris, that’s all I want to say. There might be a certain beautiful Parisian actress involved in it, and then we’re off to the racetrack and Vegas with Matty and Edward Norton, and a new supervillain to replace John Malkovich.” Robert De Niro is reportedly being considered for that role.

Ugh. :|

Leave Rounders alone. :bang:
