I wanted to keep Reddick at all costs.

Hicks, Watt, Jones, Golden, & Gardeck coming off an ACL. What a tremendously slow a__ front 7 group. Gonna be something when QBs like Trevor Lawerence & Carson Wentz get away from it.

Reddick alone wouldn't have cured that. He would've been a boat anchor on the salary cap to preclude us from signing other defenders. Im more worried about CB than perceived lack of athleticism in the front 7

Are you talking about other mediocre defenders that Keim has been doing for years now? Reddick would have prevented Keim from doing that?

Of course Reddick alone would not have cured that(you had the same odd logic with the Wirfs + our other OLine talk), but it would have been a start. Now, we’ll have to wait another year before having another top athlete asserting himself.

In a vacuum good signing of it means no Reddick it’s a part of a loss.

It's not like Cardinals fans had a choice.

My guess is most fans would have chosen to keep Reddick but that was not going to happen.

Now the hope is the Cardinals spend the money saved to improve the team elsewhere.

Golden knows the defense, plays smart and will be effective in this surrounding cast. The contract cost makes sense and leaves options for additional players, like Peterson. Reddick will do fine elsewhere but Golden will likely give the Cards more pressures per dollar.

The Golden signing also doesn't rule out drafting a OLB. In fact with CJ and Golden's age and their current deals it's really still a need.

I think they hold on to Kennard for now, see how the draft falls and if they pick up an OLB they like Kennard will be a post June cut and we get $6.6m back.

Go ahead & bring back Peterson & draft Etienne at #16, Keim, since you go for names & not give a damn about value.
Golden is a name? Really? To any other fanbase not AZ or Giants, Golden is nothing.

This signing aligns with what I think is Keim's overall plan...Adding players, who's deals won't impact Murray's extension.

It's insane to me that anyone would be against this deal. As a 2nd or 3rd pass rush option, Golden is proven to be productive. Great deal for the right price.

Agree. How dare we spend 1/3 of Reddick's price on someone who's had more tangible success as a pass rusher?

Gotta love how this forum continues to intentionally act dumb as to why Reddick was able to prosper & no it wasn’t because he was in a contract year.

take away the one game and look at his stats for the other 15 that’s not a guy you “keep at all cost” Come on now

The issue is that you can say this about pretty much every position group on our roster.

I wonder if they tried the “take away the one game” negotiations with his agent.

the whole “take away the . . . “ argument is the dumbest argument I see on sports boards. It happened. It’s a fact.

It's all about if you can replicate it. Plenty of NFL players have one insane game out of nowhere and then never reach that level of production again.

Yeah but he still put up 7.5 sacks and lots of TFL in other games. Are there going to be a ton of 5 sack games in his career? No. Not in anyone’s career. But multi-sack games, year I think so with his speed.

We're just never going to see eye-to-eye, but I'm not necessarily anti-Reddick. I have a feeling we'll see him be a moderately productive but nothing special member of another team.

he was 2nd in the entire league in TFL. And even if you take out his 5 sack performance, he was STILL top 6 in the league in TFL and still had more TFL than Watt.

It’s possible. But he could be a special member of this team with CJ and JJ.

I am skeptical regarding Reddick but it is frustrating having so many busted draft picks and when one finally looks like he could pay off, we decide to let him go.
