Oh boy!May I suggest some other possible players exiting via trade:
Zach Ertz
Rondale Moore
Victor Dimukege
I can see the front office moving these guys in the next few days.
More 7th round picks

Should be the strategy all around, right? How do people think we're going to get all of these good young players in the next 2 years?Bring in a bunch of young legs and see if we can find a gem in the rough
I'm taking about kickers and there are many that go undrafted or are looking for jobsShould be the strategy all around, right? How do people think we're going to get all of these good young players in the next 2 years?
So far I'd say that Collins and Simmons have been of equivalent quality in different ways. Simmons was drafted significantly higher, so that mostly explains the difference in expectations and disappointment.
It's baffling that people are taking victory laps on Froholdt already.
Only $1.5 million of Colt's $3.75 million salary is non-guaranteed. If this front office wants to continue to squander Michael Bidwill's resources by releasing Colt McCoy, they're welcome to it.
Remember, part of the reason that the Cards signed Colt in the first place was to show Kyler how to be a pro. If they want to remove another support from Kyler, that tells you something.
Which we don't know yet. And someone earlier today was crowing about victory on him because of all the positive ASFN posts on him in the preseason lolI don't think anyone is taking victory laps. They are just saying he isn't the bum that some thought he was.
The idea there is a 5th round pick difference in terms of competence between Tune, McCoy, Blough and Dobbs is a bad view. Especially since these were the same people who chose McCoy, Tune and Blough. To even be able to evaluate the receivers on the roster, you have to QB play that at least approaches competence. Trading for Dobbs is a clear message on the team's view of their QBs.
I think we have a very good idea that he will be at least decent/average. Based on pre-season & the coaches. As far as someone crowing about victory, are they saying he's going to be top 10 at center or are they saying he's better than expected? Huge difference.Which we don't know yet. Ertz carries a nearly $8 million base salary. Maybe we re-do his contract and take on additional money to make the trade work, but then why?May I suggest some other possible players exiting via trade:

Why McBride? I can see some of the others mentioned, but why Trey?Ertz carries a nearly $8 million base salary. Maybe we re-do his contract and take on additional money to make the trade work, but then why?
Agree on Moore. I think Antonio Hamilton could be there, also. Be interesting to see who gets featured on Saturday. Myjai Sanders would be a natural name for the trading block, also. Trey McBride and Rashard Lawrence are other prime candidates.

It's throwing away a less than 15% chance of finding a rosterable player for one who has made an NFL roster. I think you're vastly overstating the value of a fifth round pick based on actual objective data. The idea there is a 5th round pick difference in terms of competence between Tune, McCoy, Blough and Dobbs is a bad view. Especially since these were the same people who chose McCoy, Tune and Blough.
So instead of rebutting the statement you decide to shift to critiquing a synonym of praise.A pick with a hit rate of less than 15% is not a meaningful asset when it is parlayed to acquire a player who can actually make an NFL roster.
This is a silly assertion here.
Lauding? Where have I "lauded" these moves. I have said it's good to get assets for players that you aren't keeping. That's not "lauding".
What we don't know is how the team is going to construct the roster. Maybe letting go of Jones means they keep Big Mo?
Where have I praised the moves. I'm more agnostic on these moves than you are letting on. I'm just not jumping all over screaming and pouting over these moves. I'm waiting until more information comes out to make up mind.So instead of rebutting the statement you decide to shift to critiquing a synonym of praise.
LOL. This is silliness. If you think fifth rounders are so valuable, show me some data that demonstrates that you are correct in that assertion. Hint, hint, you won't because every bit of data shows that passed round three, pretty much every player you're going to get is below replacement level. That doesn't mean that every player is, but those players are pretty damn rare.and yes, it is throwing away a pick to get a replacement level QB on an expiring deal.
Dobbs is a replacement level QB who has played for like 5 teams in 2 years. He is only under contract for one year. We weren't willing to sign him earlier in the year because of 2 mil. He has zero upside. It's throwing away a less than 15% chance of finding a rosterable player for one who has made an NFL roster. i think Ertz does around the trade deadline -- the $ go down for a partial season and some contender will be looking
Moore is tougher -- maybe some team who was high on him during the draft -- but i could see Dortch playing that role and being more productive.
Is that a little smear? lolPrior regime's pick who's sat out most of training camp with a mystery injury isn't exactly winning behaviors.
The full contract is guaranteed if he's rostered Week 1. Teams aren't going to have more cap room later than they are now.

I decided that I am Trey's Arizona dad, so I'm not happy about this. I think he'll be fine in the long run.Is that a little smear? lol
J/K...don't care...just had to do it.
So you are agnostic but then proceed to be critical of those who don't like the move over multiple posts. The whole "I don't care and you shouldn't care either" angle is interesting coming from the person who decided to push back on the "Damien Williams and Marlon Mack are meh players" take that I had.Where have I praised the moves. I'm more agnostic on these moves than you are letting on. I'm just not jumping all over screaming and pouting over these moves. I'm waiting until more information comes out to make up mind.

I had seriously thought about adding Sanders and Lawrence to the list as possible departures.Ertz carries a nearly $8 million base salary. Maybe we re-do his contract and take on additional money to make the trade work, but then why?

I still like Trey and I really hope he works out.I decided that I am Trey's Arizona dad, so I'm not happy about this. I think he'll be fine in the long run.

Ertz's contract goes down by week as they pay him.
lets say a team starts the season with $5.5 mm in sal cap space- they keep that cap space all year if they dont sign anyone extra.
After 6 games, Ertz's would have $5.2mm left and that would "fit" under their cap, whereas today he wouldnt.
