Myles Jack OLB who went to Jacksonville early in the 2nd rd or Xavien Howard CB who the Dolphins took in the 2nd
Myles Jack had to get surgery cause he suffered a severe knee injury, so I understand passing on him.

I'm honestly surprised how high Xavien Howard went considering he was getting burnt so much by smaller WRs. He was projected as a 3rd-4th rounder by a lot of outlets.

I thought from reports prior to the niners game that he was making progress with his injury as well as in practice. Is that not the case?

The growing concern is the inability to identify players who have both NFL size, ability and drive to succeed in the NFL year. It seems by Keim's success that he has been able to find players with drive even if they don't have elite measurables or experience which is why they are available in rounds 3 and later. But, he has flat crapped the bed in finding elite athletes to come in and make an impact. They have either struggled with the mental/physical aspect of the game (Cooper/Niklas), the maturity of being a professional (Humphries), or the drive to work hard (Nkemdiche).

I think Nkemdiche will eventually contribute because of his pure athletic ability, but I am wondering if he will develop the drive to actually be a player we can build around.

CBs usually go higher than they should because of pass heavy offenses thus creating a premium on the position (look at us and Brandon Williams). Howard at least demonstrated elite ball skills intercepting 6 passes his JR year which is nothing Williams demonstrated yet we took him in Round 3.

according to coach Bruce Arians, who said the rookie has looked good in practice and could see some action Monday night when the Cardinals (2-3) host the New York Jets (1-4) at University of Phoenix Stadium.

Nkemdiche’s season was slowed from the start when he suffered a high ankle sprain at the beginning of training camp and then aggravated the injury at least once more. His troubles have mostly been the result of mental mistakes in practice, Arians said.

I didn't love the pick but I completely understood it. Keim and Arians no doubt believed then, and probably still do now, they had a team with the talent to make a Super Bowl run. So we were in a mindset of win now and you see a chance to get a potentially great player at that slot in the draft, and they took it. The injury obviously set him back i get the impression if he had been healthy he would have been much further along and we'd see some impact. It's a risky pick but if the kid stays clean, he can be a very disruptive force.
