.... I enjoyed the game immensely. I love the low scoring hard fought games where every play is contested to the fullest. And the edge of your seat excitement of knowing that one little mistake will cost either team the game. Here are my individual thoughts:
1. I have never liked the idea of rushing the kicker on the field until you have tried to score a TD with every down and every second you have to spare. Wouldn't you love to really know what our kicker was thinking when he lined up that missed FG? Hard to believe he was aiming for straight down the middle of the goal posts. Maybe he was thinking more about getting it blocked again and lost focus.
2. Perfect game regarding situational play calling. With Seattle unable to produce offensively, and finally having us punt well back on our side of the field, it was the perfect time to go all out to block that punt and finally reverse the field position. Our special teams coach should have seen that coming a mile away and not had what appeared to be a 160 lb player trying to block a 250 rusher coming at full steam.
3. We beat Seattle all over the field and it is good to know we are better than them. It gives me relief to know that we are the best team in our division and still should win it.
4. Replays are left in hands of officials in booth in overtime, so why didn't they stop the clock to review the DJ run to the pylon? He obviously kicked it going through it. How could that not be reviewed? If he hadn't stepped out of bounds yet, and especially if he had ball in right hand, it seems it would have had to be a score. I was surprised Arians seemed to rush the next play, rather than give them time to stop the action and review it. He should have demanded a review. If nothing else, would have given us time to think about our next few plays. Seemed we got caught up in the moment and wasn't thinking clearing in those seconds.
5. Strange that nearly the whole dang game was played on their half of the field and we still couldn't score many points. I don't think we threw to the end zone near enough considering how close we were to it for most of the game. It was like the gamble was taken out of Arians in this game.
6. Kudos to our D, they played great all around. (except for that last Seattle drive)
7. Except for our kicking team, we played mistake free football. That is a game where we beat the other team in every respect but the score.
8. And lastly, didn't you think when they were showing closeups of our kicker on sidelines after he missed that FG that he was seeing his NFL career over and was wondering where he would be working next month and in what kind of job? It was he was watching his family's whole lives changing after that one moment of futility.
