What's the worst-case scenario for the Denver Broncos in the 2025 NFL draft? It might look something like this.
First, the Jacksonville Jaguars make somewhat of a surprise selection and add Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty at No. 5, prompting the Las Vegas Raiders to select North Carolina running back Omarion Hampton at No. 6. Top two RBs off the board.
After that, the Chicago Bears add Penn State tight end Tyler Warren at No. 10, followed by the Dallas Cowboys picking wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan at No. 12 and the Indianapolis Colts picking Michigan tight end Colston Loveland at No. 14. Top WR and top two TEs off the board.
After that, the Arizona Cardinals add Texas receiver Matthew Golden at No. 16 and the Cincinnati Bengals select Oregon defensive lineman Derrick Harmon at No. 17.
If the draft fell that way, who would be the best remaining options for Denver?
Two defensive linemen who have a chance to fall to the Broncos are Michigan's Kenneth Grant and Walter Nolen of Ole Miss. Perhaps one of those two players would be the "best player available" when Denver goes on the clock.
There's also a chance that a wide receiver like Luther Burden or Emeka Egbuka could fall to No. 20, but coach Sean Payton has downplayed the team's need at WR.
The Broncos could attempt to trade down, but there's no guarantee a team will want to move up to pick No. 20, and Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson might not last until Denver's second-round pick at No. 51.
So in this "worst-case scenario," the Broncos could still land a notable defensive lineman, a promising receiver or a running back that has been climbing draft boards. There should be an exciting prospect still on the board when Denver goes on the clock on Thursday evening.
