I love good old fashioned hard-nose football, and this game had a HUGE DOSE of it today. With the Cardinals winning close over Detroit, (coupled with Seattle losing to the Chiefs in Kansas, City,) today ended very well for our Cards.

Drew Stanton passed early for two TD's, and the Defense allowed none all day. This was a great game to watch if you were a Cardinals fan.

The D-line occupied run blockers all day, and the Line Backers and Safeties filled holes very well again. Detroit's run game moved the ball, but not enough. The contain was tough enough, and the LB's filling holes were great. Meanwhile, the D-secondary, led by Peterson and Cromartie, refused to give up any TD's to Megatron and Tate. I loved the play of the rest of our secondary, coming up to blitz, or to fill a running hole. Powers, Johnson, and Mathieu, always seemed to be in the right spot.

On offense, Stanton's two TD passes were enough to carry what little the defense allowed. The O-line had its best game to date in my opinion. They practically Nullified Suh and the Detroit D-line. I only recall the one holding penalty on Faniaka against Suh, yet they kept Stanton clear enough to pass with the exception of a couple of times where he was chased from the pocket. I felt they gave him great protection all day. So far as the run game was concerned, the yardage came hard, but it did come, and it made a difference.

From purely a football fan position, I loved this game. It was hard fought, and every play was contested throughout. From a Cardinals standpoint, I was very grateful for the win. We are in great shape at 9-1 to go into the Great North West to face Seattle next week. Until then I will be:

BASKing---its a Cardinals thing!

Well said fish. This D is special despite our losses :D

Stanton threw his picks against zone D, so look for more of that type D against him. If the Redbirds are gonna win the SB, he has to play better be cause the price of poker gets more expensive each week.

Hawks & it's fans will be pumped for revenge next week, so we need to limit our TOs to be 10-1, which would be hugggggge.

Agreed Bucky, but let's not forget that we have lost a lot of O people too.

We lost our #1 QB for 3 games, but we still won 2 of those.
We lost our #2 QB early in the 3rd quarter of that third game, but our #3 guy had us within 4 points into the 4th quarter.
We lost TE's along the way, but we still kept winning until we got them back.
We lost our #2 running back, and are still winning without him.
We lost our #1 QB again, this time for the year, and our #2 finished that game and has won yet another now. Granted, he still has to improve, but who is to say that he won't or can't.

We even lost our best O lineman just prior to last season, and believed he would be back this season despite the knee surgery-----but he couldn't crack the lineup when this season started. He is still waiting to play, and he may be better now than who is playing, but the way our O-line is playing, (especially today), there is NO ONE that the coach is willing to put in there to mess with the chemistry there. This guy might have to wait until next year to play if no one on the line gets injured, (and he might be better right now than anyone who is playing, though that is no foregone conclusion). Even the coach is loathe to mess with what is already working well enough to keep winning. That doesn't mean he is a bust, just that he can't break into this lineup right now.

I'm just saying that our O has lost people too. However in every game save one, so far, they have outscored the opposition. So we need to give credit to this whole team, (not just the D). Everybody has been expected to be 'Next man up', and to be ready to 'step up' when his number is called. Thus far they all have. That's the beauty of this team.
