Yes, the Commanders traded for offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil, but they also received a draft choice in the trade with the Houston Texans.
The Commanders traded two draft choices in this 2025 NFL draft, and two choices in next year's 2026 draft. The Commanders did receive the Texans' fourth-round choice in this April's draft. With the NFL's compensatory picks being finalized and made official, the Commanders' choice from the Texans will now be the No. 128 pick in next month's draft.
Can Washington get a good player at 128?
So, going back only 12 years we can see there were players around No. 128 whom the Redskins recognized as good value and they selected them and the result was good for the Burgundy and Gold.
Perhaps Adam Peters can find him a player who fits in well with a need the Commanders will have when they are on the clock at No. 128.

Can Washington get a good player at 128?
- Well, TE John Bates was drafted at 124 in 2021, and he just re-signed with the Commanders for his second NFL contract, so we know Dan Quinn and Adam Peters really like the value in Bates.
- In 2016 the Redskins were going to be selecting at No. 152 and then head coach had his eye on a defensive tackle from Temple. Not exactly a football powerhouse is Temple University. But Gruden had been watching enough film and had a good eye for talent and so he insisted that he felt the defensive tackle could really play in the NFL. Gruden got his wish, and the Commanders selected Matt Ioannidis. Not only could Ioannidis make the team, he played through 2022, was a good, solid run defender and even accumulated 25.5 quarterback sacks rushing from the inside tackle position.
- Washington might take a running back if they like one this year when they are on the clock at No. 128. Similarly in 2013, the Redskins saw a small, quick running back whom they felt could really help them catching passes out of the backfield at the NFL level. So Washington selected Florida State RB Chris Thompson at No. 154. All Thompson did in the NFL was play 74 games into the 2020 NFL season, carry the ball for 257 times for 1,214 yards (5 rushing touchdowns) and collect 232 receptions for 1,918 receiving yards (11 receiving touchdowns).
