His talk show is kind of cheesy. Maybe Jerry Springer as OC? :D

I am Meh... okay we got a coach....now what?

learned a long time ago not to get too excited because these guys will turn right around and kick you in the nutz tomorrow.

we got a HC... now lets get a staff,... then lets start adding some players...then lets draft....then lets put it all together in camp......

if this was a good move... we will be excited about it next january when it counts.

I’m excited because I don’t see any link between this new coach and Gabbert or Stanton. This in and of it’s self is a HUGE win!!!

I understand why Gabbert is not NFL material. Why the hate for Stanton? He helped cardinals when he was healthy.

Stanton is everything you want in a backup when healthy, but he is nothing more. I think he is one of best backups in the NFL when it comes to actual backups.

Agreed. He is no starter. Why cannot he be the backup if the new head coach wants him?

If DeFilippo turns out to be the OC, it’s an A+.

How do you know he's any good at calling plays? He had one stint with Cleveland which wasn't very good. He's definitely a good QB coach based on reports & who he's worked with but there's nothing to show he's any good at calling plays let alone designing them. We don't even know if he can install an offense.

Wilks is a solid hire, but we need to wait and see how he fills out his staff, their offensive philosophy and how the offense is rebuilt.

We have to be prepared for a down year or two.

Depends on his staff. Have to have a top notch offensive minded Coordinator IMO. Wait and see is my answer.

I have no idea.. couldn't have told you a single thing about the guy or who he coached for a month ago, so honestly who the hell knows.

I feel like he is was Plan B. Shurmur was plan A. Why announce wilks now? Could have happened last weekend. I think they were waiting for Minnesota to be eliminated to get the definitive word from shurmur.

The Cardinals didn't have their 2nd interview with Steve Wilks until Friday. He was interviewing with the Titans a couple of days earlier.

I think the Cardinals already knew that Shurmur was heading to the Giants. Thus the Cardinals were waiting to see how the 2nd interviews progressed with Keith Armstrong and Steve Wilks. Clearly, Wilks' interview went so well the Cardinals went right to work on a 4-5 year deal. Gambo is adamant that Wilks was at the top of their list (with Shurmur and Munchak) for three weeks now, but MB&SK wanted to stick to their process.

I don't think Wilks was fallback choice. That article about Keim meeting him in offseason on the beach tells me he was on radar already. You bet those guys talked a lot about football & Keim might have heard something he liked.

Also learnt some interesting tidbits about Shurmur listening to around the NFL podcast last week. Apparently he had a zero leadership skills in Cleveland according to media down there. The man signed his death warrant with that Giant fools lockeroom if that's true.

Out of all the coaches hired, Wilks may not be the best, BUT I think he's the best fit for the team he's with.

I predict 3 years from now he will be one of 2 coaches, hired this year, still with the team that hired them...the other being Patricia.

I chose excited because we finally get a defensive minded coach who I feel will instill discipline and motivate this team. I am anxious to see who his coordinators are going to be. People may feel he is not ready or inexperienced but mind you PHI's coaching staff doesn't have a lot of experience but they have one hell of a GM. Keim REALLY needs to give Wilks and his staff the pieces they need to be successful or he will be out with them if they fail IMO.
