NASHVILLE, Tenn ― For the second time this month, Florida basketball and Alabama will meet in a high stakes game.
The second-seed Florida Gators (28-4) will face third-seed Alabama (25-7) in the SEC Tournament semifinals on Saturday afternoon in a matchup of high-powered, up-tempo offensive teams.
Florida advanced with a 95-81 win over No. 7 seed Missouri on Friday night, while Alabama obliterated Kentucky 99-70 behind 21 points from 6-foot-4 freshman guard Labaron Philon.
UF beat Alabama 99-94 at Coleman Coliseum on March 5 to clinch the No. 2 seed and a double bye in the SEC Tournament.
"They are one of the better teams in the country," Alabama coach Nate Oats said. "They are fighting for a number one seed in the country, and we are so, so this will be a big game, both for the SEC championship and a one seed."
Florida is vying for its fifth SEC Tournament title in school history and first since 2014. With the win over Missouri on Friday night, UF improved to 50-53 all-time in SEC Tournament games and 4-2 under SEC Tournament play under head coach Todd Golden.
Florida and Alabama are slated to tip off at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn. (cap. 19,395).
Florida and Missouri will air on ESPN and stream on ESPN+. Karl Ravech will handle play-by-play duties with Jimmy Dykes as the color analyst and Molly McGrath working courtside.
Per FanDuel, Florida basketball is a 3,5-point favorite over Alabama. The over/under is 174.5 points.
The Florida-Missouri game will air on AM 850 and FM 98.1 in Gainesville and across the state on the Gator Radio Network. Sean Kelley will handle play-by-play duties, with former Gator great Lee Humphrey as the color analyst.
