After one extra day off, Florida gymnastics will look to keep momentum going.
UF competes in the 2024 Southeastern Conference (SEC) Championship Saturday night from Birmingham, Alabama. Florida will compete against three of the conference's best squads with bragging rights on the line.
The Gators enter Saturday on one of the best three-meet stretches in program history. Florida has topped 198 points in three consecutive meets. Its score vs. Missouri (198.225) on February 28 set the nation's new record for this season. Once LSU passed that mark a day later, UF scored a 198.625 vs. Kentucky last Friday.
“This team just keeps getting better, and I’m extremely proud of them,” Rowland said. “This should give them a lot of confidence heading into the postseason.”
Here's everything you need to know for the meet:
The Gators will compete in Session 2 of the SEC Championship Saturday night at 8 p.m. ET from the Legacy Arena in Birmingham. Session 2 features the top four ranked teams in the conference, based on National Qualifying Score (NQS).
They include No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 2 LSU, the third-ranked Gators and No. 7 Missouri. Session 1, which began at 3:30 p.m. ET, held the next four — No. 8 Kentucky, No. 10 Georgia, No. 12 Auburn and No. 13 Alabama. No. 16 Arkansas did not qualify for the championship.
The meet will air on the SEC Network, with Olympians Samantha Peszek, Aly Raisman and John Roethlisberger calling the action and Taylor Davis providing sideline reports. UF legend Trinity Thomas will be part of the SEC Now team leading up to Saturday's meet.
