Notre Dame women's basketball is one win away from a third consecutive Sweet Sixteen appearance. No. 3-seed Notre Dame will play 6-seed Michigan today at 1 p.m. (ABC) for the right to advance to the Sweet Sixteen next Friday in Birmingham, Ala.
The Irish (27-5) took care of business on Friday, handing 14-seed Stephen F. Austin a 106-54 defeat. It was a game that saw five Notre Dame players score in double figures and every healthy Irish player on the roster get into the game and score points. All-Americans Hannah Hidalgo and Sonia Citron led the way with 24 points apiece.

Michigan (23-10) got past Iowa State, 80-74 in Friday's opening game to advance. Jordan Hobbs led the Wolverines with 28 points. All five of Michigan's starters scored in double figures.
There will be a familiar face on the Michigan sideline for Notre Dame fans as former Irish star Natalie Achonwa is an assistant coach for player development for the Wolverines.
A four-year letterwinner at Notre Dame (2011-14) and four-time Canadian Olympian, Achonwa earned All-America third-team honors by the Associated Press as a senior. Upon graduation, she ranked 12th all-time in scoring (1,546), third in games played (145), fourth in rebounding (970), fifth in double-doubles (28) and sixth in field goal percentage (.562).
