The No. 4 Purdue Boilermakers did what they were expected in dispatching No. 13 High Point, 75-63, Thursday in Providence, with Braden Smith and Trey Kaufman-Renn leading the way.
Their opponent took a more surprising route. No. 12 McNeese stunned No. 5 Clemson on Thursday, jumping out to a big halftime lead and holding on to seal the upset victory 69-67 and become the darling of the teams playing at the Amica Mutual Pavilion this week.
Saturday will tell us if the Southland Conference champion Cowboys will keep dancing into the Sweet 16, or if the Boilermakers of the Big 10 will keep their season alive.
