What could our unconditional 2019 1st net us in trade?

Right now, that pick might be the most valuable pick for the coming draft.

I do not see any player in the 2019 draft that is going to be a game changer for us.

Just curious what it might get us. Any thoughts?

I would think if we would package it with a player we'd get a decent pg.

Right now and up until the draft starts, I would say hopefully it would net us nothing. I see no value in using it now, either from the draft perspective or the who is currently available angle. I'd maybe trade it for Kemba Walker if he was on a long contract but I don't see anyone else that I think might be available that interests me at this price.

Like? That would be an over pay for Rozier for instance.

From what I understand, I wouldn't have any interest in Rozier. I'm not convinced he's more than a role player but even if he is, his apparent salary expectations are far loftier than they should be.

Yeah, the value of that pick is very speculative at the moment. It would currently appear to be in all probability a top 3 pick, but that may decrease if the team improves as the season goes on. And since we don't know how the crop of players in next year's draft will look, it is impossible to speculate on the real value of it. If RJ Barrett or Zion Williamson or someone else turns out to be something special this year, we may be far better off holding on to it then trading it even for an experienced player at a current position of need... particularly because there is no guarantee it would bring the real top level type of player that would make a difference for us.

while the pick's position is perceived high and our needs are high, moving it now is the right idea for the Suns and mgmt should do their due diligence and pursue it.

it's a problem that other teams already worked out most of their needs over the summer. but there are 30 of them. and, like us, some are surely finding out their plans are not working out as expected

Trading our unprotected pick would be an overpay for any PG not named Curry/Westbrook/Lillard.

With whomever we would add to the pick does not put us in the running for a PG of that calibre.

good gravy... we can NOT mortgage whatever future we have with another high lotto pick for some band-aid. Even considering this seems beyond comprehensible at this point.

Lonzo Ball, maybe, not that I'd want him.

everyone agrees we should not consider trading the pick for a "band-aid"
but management should be testing the market while we suck as bad as we've ever sucked

Trade the pick the last thing we need is more rookies hell we got 4 of them on the roster now.

I would trade our 1+ Warren/ Jackson for Beal or Kemba in a heart beat.

oh my lord.

you guys are ridiculous.

we might have the first pick in the draft. the rebuild has only really just begun with TWO guys who can actually play with Booker/Ayton. They still need more SUPERSTAR talent. You get that at the top of the draft.

I mean, possibly the number 1 pick and warren for Beal? That's just mind-boggling. He's not even an actual PG. and Kemba puts up pretty stats... which apparently does very little to make his team a winner... in the East no less.

Yeah, trading that pick now would be insane. You want Walker? Sign him outright next offseason. Beal? Potential top 3 pick for Beal? Seriously? I do believe the Suns will get better and the pick will not be in top five, but as of right now, that pick could very well be #1, and you guys want to trade it for Beal?

The draft lottery is a crapshoot. The chances of getting a superstar are low. It's even tougher now to get your choice due to the new flatter lottery odds.

Let's see where the Suns draft in 2019 first. Of course, always listen to offers.

that's fine, but i believe our draft asset looks as high as it's going to get this year
i guess it just depends on what you're willing to bet on this season

a month ago, i was more confident in waiting until next season before making a pg move
after all, it's only been 7 games
but when the last 6 of them have been blowouts
it's not unreasonable to be open to action now
as long as its not a compromise done out of desperation

i'd prefer to replace our coaching and mgmt first
because that effects our player's development
but that's probably not an option right now

Are there any superstars at the top of this draft? Doesn't really look like it to me. If this draft was better, yeah, I see it.

you're still talking about a top pick for what? who?

Like Stefan said... a possible top 3 pick for Beal is insane and if you want to get Kemba, do it in the off-season when you can then still have that high lotto pick to package with a Warren to actually fill out the PF position. Or to add a PF in the draft.

I know you guys are used to lotto picks being busts and having little value, but man... just because we had some moron putting us in the position to believe that, doesn't mean it's how it should be.

This isn't hyperbole, I wouldn't trade the Milwaukee pick for any player on that Washington roster. I'd just consider them all toxic and stay away even from the few there I like. I like Kemba and would spend away to get him but I don't know if now is the right time though.

When I said, always listen to offers, there are usually some smoking trades to be made around the trade deadline. Some teams that think they are a playoff team realize they are not going anywhere and are willing to part with players they would otherwise keep. So the Suns should keep an open mind.

It's probably best if the Suns wait to see where they draft (and who might be there) before deciding if they want to trade the pick. There is always the possibility the Suns get the 1st pick.

Another thought, a team might give the Suns a boatload of assets to go along with Ayton and Booker if they should get an early pick. The draft has not always been kind to the Suns.

We agree the Suns should know who their coach and GM are before heading into the draft and free agency.

The Suns are looking horrible right now. I think they will get better over time this year. That pick might have its greatest value right now. Teams really pay a premium for potential. I am not totally committing to this, its a judgment call.
