What did the Texans see?

During the Texans 3rd Quarter drive for a FG they ran 8 plays to the right side of the Cardinal defense. Gains of: 11,6,14,2,20,15,8 and 4 yards.

Meanwhile they ran 4 plays to the left side. INC, 1 yard, 5 yards and INC.

Anyone have any idea of what Houston saw to be able to take advantage of the right side of our defense like that?

Other than the fact that Marshay Green was on the other side. BTW: Rouse got cut? Give that boy Marshay #35 tomorrow morning. :D

Green picked off Anderson in the scrimmage tonight. He's getting big props from Urban abd Somers right now.

Could be the best UDFA ever. Well UDFA not from THE University of Texas that is.

Just amazing how a guy like that could slip by scouts from 32 teams. But it happens almost every year.

Whisenhunt said undrafted rookie Marshay Green impressed and is anxious to see him play more.

Sorry. Close but no Cigar. Williams looks good but he didn't look anywhere near as good as Aeneas, I mean Marshay, Green did Saturday.

:p

Not really related to your topic but in Urbans live chat today he predicted that Lenon and Reggie Walker would be the starting ILBers come sept 12th.

Interesting considering Walker hasn't played yet. And didn't play much last season either.

Of course Urban's predictions don't have any more weight than most of the hard core fans on ASFN.

I'm saying Washington starts or at least has the majority of plays at the WILB spot vs the Rams. Whisenhunt isn't as goofy as most football coaches. That's why he wins.

Am I mistaken, but can't Marshay Green return punts ?

IF he can then I think he has more to bring to this team than Andre Roberts.

Someone who watches every single practice, talks to all the coaches, talks to all the players, has an office inside the team facility - Opinion doesn't carry more weight then us arm chair QB's?

He is essentially still just a fan, a fan with more knowledge of the situations but, just a fan.

Fans don't get paychecks, get to work in the same building, get to have daily access to coaches and players, get access to all practices, fly on the team plane on road trips................. Is Somers also just a fan? Schefter must just be a fan of the NFL, Mayock is just a fan of the draft. Come on now, there is without a doubt a clear difference between a Fan and Urban/Somers/Schefter/Mayock, and it isn't hard to see.

They were running right at Washington by the way. The kid had a lot of tackles, looked fast, and was seemingly where he should have been more times then not and made some nice plays but like coach said he had trouble getting off blocks and the Texans knew that.

Yeah, fans with more information, more leaks, more insight.

How about mike and mike? How about dickley?

Anyone in sports broadcasting is just a fan with a job that says they are a fan. They are paid to be objective and whatnot but they are just fans.

As you can see from profootballtalk, if you crawl the net enough you learn just as much as these guys do about everything going on.

Urbans opinions hold more weight than an asfner, sure. But he is still just a fan.

I'm sure we could argue it all day.

Maybe on the depth chart, but until all the defensive starters got pulled after the first drive, every play had 5 DBs and 3 LBs with Wilson playing the SILB role. That's still what I expect to see, and that's the look the Cards are showing.

If Reggie Walker plays/starts, it'll be in a clear running situation (like if the offense runs out 3 TEs and a FB).

I'm sorry, this is not the correct opinion. The only correct observation on Daryl Washington is that he looked like a hybrid of Ray Lewis and Patrick Willis (Patray Willwis) and he's already better than Karlos Dansby.

I'm assuming you are being sarcastic here?

I like what I saw from Washington but he did have problems getting free from blocks against the Texan starters. He flashed his potential but is no where near ready to be the starter.

I'm being 85% sarcastic. I posted a similar opinion the night after the game and got jumped all over. I think that what you and Joe are saying is pretty close to the reality of what happened.

I'm consciously staying off the "Daryl Washington Man-Crush" thread because I don't want to spoil anyone's fun. :D

Not to me it doesn't. He has access to information which he puts on the Cards website so we have access to the same information in addition to what we read from Somers and Sando and numerous other sources who also talk to the coaches and the players etc.

Remember I said "hard core" not casual. Hard core guys who do things like watch every Cardinal game on their dvr 5 times running plays frame by frame or get emails from 10 different sources relating to the Cardinals and read ASFN every day for input from other hard core fans. Just look at how quickly links are posted to breaking news on the team on this site. This isn't 1987 when you had to wait a week, if ever, to learn about Cards transactions.

However, I couldn't find any Urban predictions in his archives to check on his accuracy so I guess we'll see when the Cards play the Rams.

My take is that was something Houston wanted to work on rather than a particular weakness of the Cardinals.

They also ran a significant number of misdirection plays, which in the past always seemed to be an Achilles heel for the Cardinal defenses. The Texans were not overly successful with them Saturday.

That has been mentioned before and it is really good to see the Cards have apparently fixed that problem.

What did the Texans see?

I wonder if they saw me mooning them after they made the first TD? :D
