They must have some secret workout to get their guys ready for the combine.Last year Anthony Spencer tore it up. This year they had arguably the best number for a number of positions:
TE-Dustin Keller(6'2 242)- 4.55, 26 reps, 38" vertical, 4.14 shuttle, 11.74 (60), 6.88 cone, and 10'11  broad jump. BTW, all you JoeJon fans can forget him. He did a whopping 12 reps on the bench at 6'6 254.

DE/OLB-Cliff Avrill(6'3 253)-4.51, 17 reps,32.5 vertical, 6.9 cone, 9'9 broad

OLB-Stanford Keglar(6'2 239)- who is this guy??? Eye popping numbers. 4.58, 29 reps,34 vertical, 3.98 shuttle ,11.43(60), 6.70 shuttle

It's simple - there's nothing else to do in West Lafeyette but work out. That place sucks

Isn't Purdue less than 70 miles from Indianapolis? Home Cookin's the secret.

Can't say I completely disagree though.

Purdue has produced some great DEs (Rosevelt Colvin, Chike Okeafor, Shawn Phillips, Anthony Spencer) and OLBs for the NFL recently. Too bad Purdue's defense has been underwhelming since 2001. Their workout room must be amazing. And DevilFan02 was right - there is NOTHING to do on campus or in West Lafayette so they have no excuse.

As a Purdue grad I watched every game this season, and Dustin Keller is not just a workout warrior - he is a very agile big man with great hands and the ability to block when called upon. He should be a first round pick.

I still maintain that Brock Spack is incredibly overrated as a defensive coordinator. He gets all the credit for turning out these good defensive players, but his units play like crap most of the time.

Couldn't agree more. The fact that we turn out so many quality defensive players yet we consistently have an underacheiving squad is indicative of coaching. Hopefully once the new coach steps in in 2009 Spack is given his walking papers.
