FROM - Somers:

The competition at guard is intriguing, as expected. Alan Faneca the starter on the left side, has had some shaky moments in pass protection. Deuce Lutui is pushing Reggie Wells on the right side. Rex Hadnot has been solid, too.

All four are not going to make the roster, which makes a trade a possibility.

Accepting this premise as true, who do you believe will be released/traded.

No one because I think they keep Hadnot over Claxton who can play center. This is exactly why I wasn't fired up about the Faneca signing. As good of a run blocker Faneca is, the opposite can be said of his pass blocking. Shuffling the entire line will take some time & could backfire early on if the night practice was any indication. He's also has a 1 year deal.

I'm not a big fan of Reggie Wells, he is the exact opposite of what our line is all about and is coming off a terrible year. Faneca will stay because of his leadership qualities whether it is as a starter or backup.

Wells probably has the most trade value and the least value to the team.

Don't rule out the possibility of Faneca retiring. I don't know how that effects his salary with the Jets, bu I'm sure he'd prefer that to getting cut by two teams in four months or traded to Buffalo or Oakland or somewhere.

I a little worried Faneca is starting to freefall. It happens. I could definitely see a situation in which he doesn't make it to week 1 with the Cards one way or another.

If I had to pick it would be Wells because as K-9 said - he has the most trade value at this point given his contract status. But, I have a sneaking suspicion that they will all remain, at least initially. Wells remains insurance if Faneca fails, and Hadnot has the added value of being able to backup at centre. Lutui, judging by what I've read, is still very much in the team's future plans.

Wells. Faneca will stay because of his leadership role which is needed plus he is good on running plays. He will be the starter with Deuce.

I know what you're saying but I disagree about his value to the team.

His value is that he has the ability to play any position on the line. That makes him a perfect backup with the ability to step in anywhere.

I think they all stay. If they were looking at trading one my guess would be Wells as he has the most upside. Maybe we could get that starting CB or Linebacker.

Plus, Faneca has been going against Dockett, correct? Say what you want about Dockett, but he is one of the best in the league at his position. I wonder how Faneca will fair against lesser players.
