#s 1, 7, and 8 are very bad signs.

#5 tells me they don't understand how to win in this league

#3 has already been disproven as they botched FA already by underestimating the market.

The rest is as I would expect.

We'll see if these are actually true down the road.

0. Bidwill is the owner. Will anything they do matter?

I get that kind of vibe too.

How is 1 a bad sign? If anything, this is exactly opposite of what we have seen in management the past 25 years.

Haha, fair play! I just look at the patchwork plan they're trying to put together and think they're only going halfheartedly. It feels like they picked a strategy but aren't committing entirely to it, yet they are still certain theirs is "the way." Hope I'm wrong.

Conservative does not work in the NFL. Conservative gets you five-year rebuilds. I get being wary and rebuilding properly, but a conservative approach takes more than a year or two; a bold approach can turn a team around swiftly. And I don't think they're really sticking to their conservative plan well enough anyway. Could be wrong and hope I am :shrugs:

Sorry Stout but Conservative is Bill Belichick and the Patriots. That is the essence of GM's Monti's career.

The list seems like it’s a good overview to me. We shall see if they are as smart as they their vibe gives out, but it will be 2 years before I can put a real grade on this regime. Once they level set the cap and have two off seasons under their belts, then it’s fair game.

If their plan was to go into the second week of free agency with McCoy and Blough 1 and 2 on the depth chart, they definitely aren't the smartest people in a lot of rooms.
It's not a bad move if the goal is to tank this year.

I’m not even sure what this means.

This almost reads like “They prefer mediocre-average, lunch-pail type players with good character over players who are actually great on-field, but their character doesn’t measure up to the mediocre lunch-pail types.”

I think it’s too early to judge that. A total culture change takes a new philosophy going forward. They are stripping down this rotten house down to the studs! And yes the Patriots operated this way for years, but with two GOATS at the helm.

Let’s put it this way I trust Monti’s philosophy & path on building a consistent long term winner more than Keims

I’m confused what they are doing so far. I wanted complete change and I got it. Now I’m holding my breath to see what the plan is. So far it seems the only plan is not to spend money.

I am surprise by the lack of using FA to a greater extent. Maybe they’re keeping Hopkins, but seems contrary to their other moves. Why create space you don’t use. More draft picks will mean more $ needed but not that much.

Exactly my thoughts. Like any draft, you can’t evaluate it properly this early on.

They are if the plan is to tank for next season, which actually might be a smart thing to do considering Kyler's injury IMO.

Instead of conservative, I’d say prudent and deliberate.

Where this team is now, using free agency to just plug holes, while building through the draft is smart. In a year or two is when you maybe look for the dynamic playmakers to come in and take you over the top or to the next level. If free agency were still after the draft, we’d have almost nothing to complain about with this plan…lol

Regardless of tank, or no tank…I expect this team to play hard all season and not quit.

Lots of guys gonna get cut after the draft…lol Also, it tells me they think Kyler may be ready sooner, rather than later. No need to drop $10 million on a guy who may only start 3 or 4 games. I expect a run heavy offense, at least to begin the season, which will protect the QB (most likely McCoy) and keep him out of harm’s way as much as possible. They will also bring in at least 2 more QBs for OTAs and camp. Need 4 for that.

1 certainly applies to Monti.

7/8 definitely applies to JG and staff -- OTOH, Monti exudes that upper midwest low key humility.

Everyone who has taken a new job where things were messed up: you spend the honeymoon period getting all the problems out in the open and addressed. For Monti and JG -- this is the plan for 2023.

I think Keim built fragile rosters because 1. He didnt draft well enough on a consistent basis, and 2. He was a quick fix guy.

10. i totally agree with. Allen and Murphy leaving might have been as simple as they were good, but not durable enough.

I’ve always used a 30/30/30 approach, or something similar. 30 days to assess what’s wrong and come up with a plan, 30 days to implement the plan, and then 30 days to review and tweak for additional improvement and growth.
