Logan Thomas won the #3 QB battle and didn't even have to play. Lindley is awful despite some people's belief in his "tools."

Robert Hughes makes this team as does Jaron Brown. No doubts anymore for these two. I believe RB is set and the remaining question is if the Cards keep 6 WRs.

Peterson still has a ways to go and hopefully Cro can help him get there. He plays with too much of a cushion.

We are still weak vs the TE with the scheme we are currently using. My guess is we will be covering athletic TEs a little differently when the regular season comes.

Our offensive line still has a ways to go. The Vikings have a pretty good defensive line and we struggled a bit.

Bishop showed a little something in this game despite playing 4 game sin like 2 years. If he continues to progress, he makes this squad.

Oh, and Feely is probably gone due to his kickoffs. He makes our special teams worse with short, line drive kickoffs.

Sorry, drawing a blank here. Who is Bishop?

Going to be interesting to see how much love Teddy gets this week from the national media.. he looked good against the back end of our defensive roster.

I totally agree with all your comments chopper!

Anyone else concerned about the D?

Brown secured his job tonight. Not sure if we are set at RB. I see the FO looking at RB in the last cuts.

How can we not cover TE's year in and year out? Amazes me

Showed just how weak it is and how much work there is still to do. Watford got worked a few times. I was expecting more from him.

Would be huge if he is healthy and can contribute at a high level

I don't get the cushion, either. I would assume it's a preseason thing. I don't remember him playing that far off the line in the regular season. Plus, we weren't designing very many blitz schemes. Vanilla, to say the least.

No. It's preseason, and the Cards are using maybe 25% of their playbook. Plus, the starters left fairly quickly and Minnesota kept all of theirs in for the duration of the first half.

Last week, the D pitched a shutout.

Besides not covering the TE I think we will be ok. Foote looked like he still has a good feel for the game and was in the right place a lot of the time to make plays.

Our corners still play a little soft, but it's preseason.

I learned that Demans (?) is a step too slow and that Bishop will likely take his or Alexander's ILB spot...

Foote, Acho, and Okeafor or what ever his name is did impress me some.

Offense, we only have 1 RB and 1 FB who doesn't consider himself a FB.

Kickoffs won't be as big of a problem this year.

One more, I doubt BRadley Sowell makes this team. I believe he had two false start penalties which should seal his fate.

IMO, it is Peterson still working on the mental side of the game. I don't believe he reads the routes fast enough to play close all the time like Sherman and Revis do. He tends to play back and trust his speed to close on short routes, however this leads him vulnerable to double moves if the WR has speed to keep a cushion. Peterson is a prime example of a guy who has gotten by on his athletic skills for so long he never had to refine his technique or mental approach. It isn't saying he can't or won't, it is just where I believe he is after watching him.

I guess I should mention that I believe Peterson has been working on these phases of the game since he has been in AZ and just don't believe he is there yet.

Three.

This game will prevent the team from getting complacent after their shut-out of Houston last week.

I don't think we will get as much pressure on QBs this year as we did last year. ONe thing that has stood out to me is our lack of explosion and burst on our AA gap blitzes. This shouldn't be a huge surprise as Washington and Dansby were more athletic than what we currently have, but we seemed to really rely on that blitz package to get pressure in key moments last year and it doesn't look like it will be as effective this year. Also, our OLBs still struggle disengaging from linemen when rushing and do not have the speed to really threaten around the edge without engaging. Refs don't call a ton of holding so this will be an issue and drive fans crazy yelling for holding calls.

Pressure will come from coverage sacks. Abraham, if he's in shape, can still be a 10+ sack guy. Calais is good for about 6-8.

Desmond Bishop. We just signed him. He is returning from an injury, could be good find

Thanks. I remembered about 10 minutes after I posted. My head was swimming looking at the names on the back of the jerseys in the 4th qtr. I kept thinking "who the hell is that?" and I'm usually pretty good at knowing. Bishop just slipped my mind. He did show at the very least he has good veteran instincts I thought.

I agree. Also think Sowell definitely is at risk, but if Starks is injured, perhaps he stays. But three false starts, wow.

Golden and Powell continue to make their case, and Powell also missed a TD opportunity when Lindley didn't see him. Golden is very versatile, he just has to stop the bonehead plays like stopping with one foot outside the endzone during a return.

Lindley did some good things but is clearly behind Thomas. A couple of drops, a couple bad passes. Under a lot of pressure. When Arians barked at him after he came off the field, I think it was because he used a hard count when the distance was longer than 5 yards and this caused Sowell to jump AGAIN. Overall he is a much better QB then he was as a rookie, but still not good enough.

Arians got mad at Sowell after the 2nd false start, but the 3rd one he wasn't... but as I said above he chewed Lindley out when he came off.

Feely's kicks are longer, but are still low. His longest kicks are only a bit further then Cat's shortest kicks. Like the effort on the push out of bounds. Almost missed the extra point. Arians went for a lot of 4th downs, which limited Feely's FG opportunities, one might even ask if that was planned, but probably not. Overall while Feely didn't suck it up, he clearly lost more ground to Cat.

You saw Bishop potentially blow up that play but he whiffed. The recognition and speed were there. I think he is potentially our gap blitzer.

Arians clearly wanted to run the ball and play some smash mouth football. It's looking to me like our top 3 backs are Ellington, Dwyer, and Hughes. In terms of pure running ability, Parmalee looks 4th. Clearly though Arians was trying to give Taylor a chance. I'd say Parmalee and Tyalor are looking at one spot, but if we keep 4 TE's and 6 WR's, they both might be cut. I'd still really like to see Bauman play earlier with better talent around him. Maybe a PS player.

Hope Fells isn't injured, looked to hurt his hand on his last play.

Ginn showed he isn't just a deep threat.

Foote brings the wood

Okafor flashed. Good to see.

What play are you talking about with Bishop? Would like to see it.

I think at least 1 or 2 of Sowel's false starts where not his fault, could be wrong though. He is definitely on the bubble, but I don't think he will be getting cut. Starks started to look like old #75 out there on a few plays. He got burned badly on that spin move and a few other plays.

I think Bauman is has a chance as he played really well in the first preseason game. He just didn't have the people out there to help him. With Taylor, can he see the holes or is it every time he gets the ball, the line never gives him room? I can never figure that out.
