Long time Phoenician!
He isn't a .300 hitter. He doesn't score 100 runs per season.
He doesn't lead the league in stolen bases.
What he does is win Championships (scored the winning run for the Marlins, plus his contributions with the Diamondbacks during our year).
What he does is field flawlessly at 2B or SS or 3B (or even 1B when called upon).
What he does is hit over .380 lifetime with the bases loaded.
And what he did tonight, with the D'back being shut out 5-0, was to put it into right-center for a 3-run triple.
He drove in 3 and strolled home with the 4th run on a ground ball. And we have a ball game.
He didn't overswing. He just placed it into the gap.
And, there's no player in the Major Leagues I'd rather see up with an 0-2 count than Craig Counsell.
The superstar rookies are waiting in the wings. But, for this year, I love watching Craig Counsell . . . as from the day he first joined the D'backs.
