ESPN announced Lee Corso's retirement on Thursday. The worldwide leader in sports said Corso's final College Gameday appearance will come Aug. 30, week one of the 2025 college football season.

Corso has been a staple on college football television for 38 seasons. Corso is an original cast member of College Gameday, working with the show since its premiere in 1987.

Through the years, Gameday's defining segment was Corso's headgear pick tradition. For the uninitiated, Corso caps the show by putting on the mascot head of one of the teams playing in the featured game. The mascot worn by Corso serves as his game prediction.

The first headgear selection came Oct. 5, 1996 at Ohio State.

LSU has been featured on College GameDay 36 times throughout the years. Only seven schools have more appearances. The Tigers have hosted 14 times, which ranks No. 4 all-time. Corso wore Mike the Tiger's head a handful of times. Corso also had ample opportunity to pick against the Tigers.

Corso went with Mike the Tiger 25 times. He was 18-7 when putting on the LSU mascot head. Corso's most recent LSU pick came on Sep. 14, 2024, when he picked LSU to beat South Carolina in Columbia. LSU staged a comeback to secure the win.

Before that pick, Corso's last time donning the Tigers' mascot was Jan. 13, 2020. That was LSU's national championship win over Clemson. Corso picked LSU five times that season. He was correct every single time as the Tigers were 15-0.

On Nov. 5, 2012, Corso picked LSU to beat Alabama in a game dubbed "Game of the Century."

LSU won 9-6 in Tuscaloosa.
