Being in Memphis and working nights I don't get to watch any DBacks games, but looking at the box score they don't seem to be hitting the ball well at all. Is there another team with a worse team BA?

What is the problem? Too many young hitters? Impatience, lack of plate discipline, failing to make good contact or what????

It's the "nut behind the wheel". Bob Melvin is batting rookies and 2nd year players indiscriminately up and down the lineup.

They can't build a secure feeling in their roles, because they don't know their roles.

It's the same thing Melvin was involved with when he was bench coach to Bob Brenly and his 135 different batting orders used during the season.

As has been discussed in other threads, two potentially good Managers are on the team -- Chip Hale (who was the minor league Manager of the Year last year at AAA Tucson) and Kirk Gibson (a dynamic force who came to the D'backs with managerial ambitions).

It's just a matter of time. But how much damage will be done til then?

Is it really a surprise? The Diamondbacks had a bad hitting team last year, they took away one of their best in Estrada and then inserted a bunch of rookies and 2nd year players. This team wasn't supposed to have good hitting yet, it's a rebuilding job. Manager's line-ups also has something to do with it.

I can understand playing young guys but if what you say is true he is having a hard time finding their right spot in the order(isn't that what spring training is for?) and moving them all over the place isn't allowing those young players to get comfortable.

I guess Melvin is a huge part of the problem.
