lets take a step back and see if we can pin down some problems of the problems with the suns. lets trying to focus on the big picture, so no blasting a players or the coach or management of the team.

i.e one of the things that i believe have been a big problem is that the spacing on the court hasnt been good. this is true on both the offensive and defense. look at some of the traps in the full court that the suns use. they will use a trap with 2 players on the ball and then they would not have another player in position to cut off the passing lines. on the offensive end the spacing has been very bad more so when amare is trying to post up. there maybe 3 defenders right around him within 2 steps when we are trying to get him to ability to score.

what do you all think are some of the problems that the suns as a team are facing.

IMO, Marbury is our best scorer.

I dont care about how many assists a PG "should" have.

Marbury needs to take it to the hole as much as he can.

A) To get the other team in foul trouble
B) Higher % shot.
C) To creat open looks.

Amare needs to forget the jump shot and take it inside.

-Shaq doesnt need a jump shot to score, Amare is as close as it gets to a "Shaq" as a Power forward. He needs to get afew close range shots & hooks and stay in the paint where he belongs!

We need to play HARD agressive defense! We are athletic enough to defend alot of the NBA teams well. I dont know if it is coaching but we dont go ALL out on the defensive end. When we do it is sucessfull...

After 7 beerz this doesnt seem like a bad post!

Amen to this brother. Amare was much more effective last year, partially because of his "rawness". He would just try to dunk everything, and acted like an animal out there. Forget the 18 foot jumper, and get back to basics. The Suns need some aditude inside.

I agree that spacing is a big source of the Suns problems. The Suns are simply horrible shooting the ball this year. While I certainly don't want to put this on one players shoulders, I think Marions shooting woes is the single biggest difference between this year and last. Since the Suns get zero consistancy from the outside at the shooting guard position, Marion's ability to hit the outside shot last year was important in giving the Suns some semblance of spacing, which made it ultimately easier for Marbury.

Quite honestly, Zarko is so much a better fit for this team with his length, outside shot, and ability to create off the dribble, that I see Marion gone within two years. As much as I like Marion, giving him a max deal will ultimately be another bad move by Brian. The part of his game that is the weakest is the element most needed by this team ... outside shooting.

Ironically, he would be a great small forward for Dallas, who has the best outside shooting big man in Dirk. His athleticism and ability to run the floor would be a perfect complement to that team. And Steve Nash combined with Marbury would be this generations KJ/Hornecek. I would kill for his consistant outside shot. Wouldn't it be funny if they ultimately got traded for each other ... again.

I think Amare Stoudemire needs to ditch his little turnaround/fade away jumper, but he is doing just fine shooting the ball 10-15 feet when his opponent leaves him open. BTW over the last couple games he is struggling with his fg%, but overall he is better than last year. He also wasn't getting double-teamed until late last season. Now the only time it isn't double teamed his when he is facing a good defender like Kevin Garnett or Jermaine O'Neal.
