You’ve been unable to go to the movies all summer.

You get the chance to go to ONE movie playing at the local four plex

I know what the best movie is from that list NOW, but I picked what I would most likely attend in 1987.

That is one hell of a lineup. Kinda like the 1974 Stillers draft! I went Robocop, but FMJ was a close second. Predator is no slouch, and Lost Boys, while good, couldn't hold a candle to the other three. Honestly? It would be up to what I'm feeling that night.

I def wouldn’t have been into Jacket by then… the other three are so damn hard to choose. Are we choosing with the idea that we didn’t know how good each would be?

If I put myself in my 11 year old shoes, it’s a total toss up between Predator and Robo with Predator coming out just slightly ahead because of Arnold’s hold over me at that age. By 87, I’d probably seen Commando about 167 times and it kept getting better, every single time I saw it.

Correct - you've never seen them, just posters and TV commercials.

Predator
Robocop
Lost Boys
Jacket

In that order.
I was 8 and I remember at that time wanting to see Robocop. I can't say that about the rest.

Robocop
Predator
Jacket
Lost Boys for me

I'd rank the movies I've seen as follows:

Lost Boys
Full Metal Jacket
Predator

The comedy in Lost Boys was great. Somehow I missed Robocop.

I voted for Lost Boys. It's due to the question being "What Movie are you going to in August 1987" and the release dates that @Dback Jon posted. FMJ and Predator I would have seen in June and Robocop in July. :)

I'd rank them now as:
FMJ
Predator
Lost Boys
RoboCop

If I was ranking them in '87 as a 12 year old I'd have had Predator at the top.

Ah damn it. I got too excited over that lineup and that didn't register. Plus the scenario, back then I was at the movies a few times a week. I lived at Town & Country's AMC theater, UA at Center for the Arts, and Camelview 5. I still miss Camelview. I loved the old auditoriums there and saw a million movies there in the 90s when it became the indy film venue. December this year marks 10 years of its closure. :(

I changed my vote to Predator then. 12 year old me was all about the Arnold action movies. Terminator was the first R rated movie I remember seeing and it hooked me.

Haha…Commando is one of my favorite movies of all time. Just watched it a few weeks ago. Still holds up!

My 13 year old self would have gone to Predator. I was a HUGE Arnold fan, and a sucker for cheesy one liners.

Although, my friends and I talked about Robocop nonstop for a few weeks. Don’t remember why but we did lol.

Predator for sure. My lasting memory of that movie was being in line to buy the tickets and the guy in front of us said "two for pre dater." And he wasn't trying to be funny he couldn't pronounce Predator.

Lost Boys is one of my hidden gems because it's shot in Santa Cruz so there's so many scenes in it that remind me of my childhood at the beach. Lucy and I were just there a few weeks ago took a bunch of pics talking about that movie including one with the poster from that movie that's at the Boardwalk

Damn it, you're adding even more layers for me! I guess the 1987 me would have wanted to see Predator. At 11 years old (you're born in '76 too?), I also wouldn't have been as into FMJ. Robocop would have been a tempting rated R draw for me. Lost Boys would have ranked higher than FMJ. I was also a total Ahnold nut, and that was the heyday of his action movies--I had a giant crush on Alyssa Milano, too. 11 year old idiot me probably would have hoped for a cute daughter character for some reason. Yeah, it would have been Predator, all things considered.

Commando has the best dialogue exchange ever in movie history. "Eff you, a-hole." "No, eff YOU, a-hole!"

Also, how Ahnold has any trouble beating that flabby Bennet is laughable. Love that freaking movie.

I remember making that choice.
Being a huge Arnie fan I saw Predator first, then saw Robocop a couple days later.
Lost Boys and FMJ came on VHS

Not to be forgotten, The Lost Boys had a great soundtrack.
