Actually our team has been coming together offensively IMO as of late. Mantei has been the weak tit on this pup.

...I only hope Brenly has a short leash on guys like Alomar and Finley who seem to be really showing their age. Also, I hope Gonzalez's arm doesn't hurt us in the long run

Alomar - I just don't see "it" in him anymore. Completely ordinary. Bench him

Mantei - 2 blown saves doesn't make me want to sit him but one more in the near future (next 10-14 games) and I may be singing the Valverde tune. Tight leash.

Finley - Cannot understand why people are upset. When has he ever had a wildly productive April? BB knows this and seems willing to wait it out. Fins, IMO, needs to adjust his mental approach and think more like a leadoff man and less like a #5 hitter. Plus, unless you call up an OF who on this team can step in and play CF? Ride it out.

Gonzo - With each passing game teams are testing that arm more and more. For every hit he gets at the plate, he is starting to approach allowing one opponent into scoring position with his weak arm. Now we are hearing he is looking at surgery after the season. Again, who can play LF day in and day out? Ride it out until arm gives out or he becomes such a liability that his hits cannot offset the poor play in LF.

They must somehow manage to get Kata into the every day line-up and if that's at the expense of benching Alomar, then so be it...

I guess Hammock is due to reactivated today and will be in the starting line-up tomorrow...I just checked the Dbacks official website and Andrew Good is going to be demoted to clear off a roster space for him...

The ideal scenario would be to have Hammock play RF, keep Estalella as the starting catcher, probably have Bautista fill in for both Gonzo and Finley from time to time....

I know you have an anti-Bautista bias but how do you essentially bench the best OF you have right now for Hammock...your planned starting catcher?

Bautista should spell the gimp arm in LF and Mr April in CF and not keep starting in RF? (If you cannot tell I am completely disgusted by the inadequate OF situation both in the field and on the bench)

Sorry Louie, I am having a hard time buying that idea.

That's the issue though with Bautista...He always gets off to a "hot-start", to immediately sustain a season-ending injury in May... I hope he finally break that trend and prove me wrong (and I definitely would love him to)....

Hammock will be more susceptible to reinjure himself if he were to catch 9 innings per game and since he did gain some experience in RF last season, that's naturally where they should place him...

I'm also disgusted about the "inadequate" OF situation and I'm trying to figure out why they now have 3 catchers on the roster and I dont know if Estalella can play anyother positions.... And it's also apparent that they're not going out of the organization to improve matters and they're still reluctant to give either Tracy or Terrero an opportunity...

Quite frankly, Im shocked they demoted a pitcher since they're in major need of relievers since only 3 of their starters have proven to give quality starts on a consistant basis thus far and a few of their relievers (IE Koplove) cant pitch more than twice a week....

Who did they demote? They were going with 12 pitchers.

Well, since you asked... :D

I cut Estallela (I know that's GM not manager...so what) and bring up Terrero. He spells all the OF guys, and if he keeps hitting at a decent fraction of his current pace he starts in CF until we need defensive replacement - then he moves to LF and Fins comes in. Hammock is our primary catcher (say 4 games a week) and back-up OF along with Sadler. Hammock's throwing shoulder is too delicate to be regular OF, guys. His knees are not the long-term issue. He ices the shoulder before and after all games, still. Danny B stays put until he starts to sag badly or gets hurt. I would love my worn-out patience with him to finally be rewarded, though.

I bench Hillenbrand and play Kata at third, and what the heck - let the much-vaunted Donny Sadler step in for Alomar for a few games, and also Baerga. First infielder injury we get, up comes Tracy.

I switch Valverde and Mantei - Jose did best with max pressure last year, and Mantei needs to earn his way back to being my closer. If he can. I just cut Choate as another stupid GM trick (and dock JoeBlow's salary a half-Mill for the sheer idiocy of that move, and another Mill for Alomar and another for Reynolds...) and bring up the best of the Sidewinder relievers - at the moment looks like Medders or Service. Heck, bring 'em both and send Randolph to Japan. I do not believe in lefty specialists.

We have no starting pitchers ready anywhere on the farm at present - but either if Daigle or Sparks have two more lousy outings, Good gets another genuine shot at starting and not getting jacked up and down. We hope Fossum or Nance or someone we have can get it together during this season, because I hate to imagine what Nincompoop would trade off for a decent pitcher - not that he could actually identify one.

They just demoted Andrew Good to free up a spot for Robby Hammock...

I've said before that I'd like to see Alex Cintron batting second, rather than fifth. I believe he has the potential to win batting titles in that role. Last year he led all of our starters in batting. This year he's mediocre.

And I believe we could maximize our heart-of-the-batting-order, without losing the L-R-L or R-L-R sequence, by batting Hillenbrand ahead of Gonzo and Sexson.

So that's Cintron-Hillenbrand-Gonzo-Sexson 2-3-4-5.

But because we don't have a true leadoff hitter, what if we just slide them up to 1-2-3-4 until we do. Cintron-Hillenbrand-Gonzo-Sexson, followed by (unless there are major moves) Finley, Bautista, Alomar, and our Catcher.

Either way, I think we'd have a much more potent batting order with Cintron-Hilenbrand-Gonzo-Sexson batting one after each other, rather than Gonzo-Sexson-Cintron-Hillenbrand.

I like the lineup they used last year when they got hot

2b-Matt Kata
SS-Alex Cintron
Lf-Luis Gonzales
1b-Richie Sexson
Cf-Steve Finley
3b-Shea Hillenbrand
Rf-Danny Bautista
C-Robbie Hammock
P-Pitcher

That lineup could create pitcher probs with having Lefty righty lefty righty
