What should be the Suns priority?

With their remaining caproom they should try to get

I also like the Foyle & Dice frontline; they both fill what the Suns need in the center position (defense, rebound, blocking)

My second choice would have to be Blount & Dice

Foyle and Dice MIGHT slip in with the cap space available. It will depend on where the cap is set.

Blount is my second choice, but I'm convinced he wants to stay in the East.

Etan Thomas is an RFA and I'm sure the Wizzards will match.

Tag at no more than the veteran minimum.

AND JUST SAY NO TO OKUR.

You certainly could be right. But then, I predicted that Cuban would match any offer to Nash.

Depending on where the Wizards think they're going with Brown, they might let Thomas go if he will cost them more than the MLE. Unlikely, but possible.

We can't really decide on Dice without knowing the price. Several articles have suggested teams could get him for the LLE, or about $1.6 million. I'm guessing that $2 million would be enough to keep him, but not break the bank if he gets re-injured.

Some of us can. Keeping McDyess in the fold would be an insult to long-term fans. The Suns gave up a lot for him, got burned, and have been paying the price ever since. There's no "kiss and make up" here. Get him the hell away from the organization and keep him out.

The Suns were quoted saying he's a good influence on Amare and he was our best center last year when he still wasn't fully recovered. If he continues to get stronger he could be a real asset.

McDyess screwed the Suns but only because he's not very smart not because he's vendictive. I hoped he might sign here for less but I dought he'll turn down better money if someone is stupid enough to give it to him.

I was rather looking for a "basketball" reason. The fact that you would rather lose more games because you feel personally miffed at Dice is fine, but I really like winning. Really I do. I like winning a lot.

I disagree with your empirical assertion that McDyess helped (or would help) the Suns win more games. In my opinion, the Suns so-called late-season surge was the result of many other factors, the primary one being that most of their opponents stopped giving a flip.

I say a center. Someone who can dominate. I say we go for Shaq.

JJ, Nash, and Jacobsen for him? Who knows.

I'm tired of us going after medicore centers. We need a dominator. Medicore isn't working. (Ex: White, Voshkul, etc.).

Shawn Marion, Amare, and Shaq would kill the West. Barbosa and anyone would work in the backcourt.

Just my $0.02

Can't trade Nash until next year.

Foyle and McDyess of those options.

I am for any combo that keeps Amare from the center spot. He needs to be almost exclusively at the PF position. Also, any center combo that keeps Jake off of the floor will be a good thing IMO.

So little love for Ostertag?

He will be cheap , he plays tough, he knows his role, he defends, he has experience and he played in a great system his whole career.

He is giving a solid 7ppg 7.4rpg 1.8bpg 1.6apg in 28mpg.

And his best 2 arguments? 7'2 and 280lbs.

He would be the guy when we play Shaq, Yao.... McDyess will play all other games basically.

We can always get Big Jake back younger and could do the same - the blocks for about 500k since he isn't at the vet min. yet.

Ostertag is much better than Big Jake. That's not even close.
I know I just was thinking cost wise.

Ostertag would have to be really cheap to make sense, but I'm not convinced there are many teams beating on his door either. One curious aspect of the signing of Nash is that it means the Mavs are almost certainly going to be shopping for a point guard with their MLE. A few weeks ago there were rumors that Ostertag might go to Dallas, but that seems very unlikely right now.

Didn't Dallas use its MLE today to sign its own player?
