I believe that DeAngelo Hall received a 5 year $25 million dollar contract last year.

I think you're about right. I know that Surtain will demand somewhere around $10 million in SB, and probably $3-5 mil. in salary, if not more, over 3-4 seasons (you can add a 5th year, but it'd be pretty meaningless. Split the difference and it's ($4 million x 3) + $10 million = $22 million over three years, $26 over four.

don't hurt yourself :D and he said "think" and what's the bonus

Hall's was somewhere between $12 and $13 million. Roy Williams had about a $13 million bonus split between years 1 and 2, so expect about the same for a #8 overall pick. Link.

USA Today has a really good contract tracker, but it seems to be down right now for some reason.

The signing bonus will probably be the same about 12-14 mill. But the big difference is in the base salary. Rookies base salaries outside of the top 5 are usually pretty small 1 mill or less. The Vet will get the signing bonus and the high base salary 2+ mill.

So although the #8 spot and Surtian will most likely get the same signing bonus Surtain will get paid much more in Base salary making his contract higher then the rookies.

Well then why wouldn't we go with Surtain? I doubt he'll turn into a Wendell Bryant or a Thomas Jones since he is proven, plus we don't have to wait out the learning curve... what are the %'s of players picked becoming really great where we're picking? Probably not that high...would be interesting to go back and see how many corners picked around 8 ended up being as good as Surtain... I just don't get why people fall in love with first round draft picks so much...

By the way..Thanks for the info everybody!
