I'm sure that people will want to needle me because Daryl Washington got engulfed by the Texans' #2 OL and made a bunch of plays on third-day draft picks and undrafted free agents. That's not what I want to talk about.

Brandon Keith getting pancaked by Mario Williams was bad, but I was wondering if anyone else noticed how he sets up on the line. His inside elbow was resting on his inside knee and his outside foot was kicked way, way back. Did anyone else notice this?

I've watched a lot of offensive line play and know enough about the technique to embarrass myself around someone who actually knows something. But has anyone ever seen another offensive lineman set up like that? Does anyone know the reason why?

It would seem like it'd be really difficult to get into your dropstep from that position, or to re-establish on an inside move.

You are amazing. You really are. Dude was lights out tonight.

I could care less how Keith stands as long as he gets the job done. He gets a pass from me #1 because it was Mario fricken Williams. Who has made many an NFL T's look a little silly at times. #2 because keith now is fully aware of what intensity and level of readiness he needs to bring into an NFL game each and every snap. He will get better.

Stopped reading after this.

I think it has been determined that you are just a MB contrarian and the ultimate Debbie Downer. If you REALLY wanted to talk about Keith, you wouldnt have thrown this nugget out.

^^^lol

I actually started laughing when i saw mario williams bull doze keith. It was so bad. I dont understand how we have herd nothing about this guy. He was like a 7th round pick only a year ago and now hes takng over matts blindside, stands like a ******, and nobody asked questions.

He looked like a construction cone out there.

Lutui needs to replace wells on that side as well. That would help.

I mentioned this in another thread.

This was a good test for him so he knows what to expect when the season starts and it's game speed. It's a character issue for him now. He should work even harder to improve now that he knows what's coming. Will he get more determined or will this get in his head?

Washington was all over the field playing in his first pro game. It's encouraging, if nothing else. Yet as usual you feel the need to rip the guy.

I swear you secretly hope that Washington will be a bust, rather than a Pro Bowler, just so you can say "I told you so".

The good, the bad, and the ugly of kerouac9:

- has a decent knowledge of the game of football.
- is never wrong (in his mind), even when discussion indicates otherwise.
- is beginning to remind me of He-who-shall-not-be-named.
Note: I'm not saying that he is the same, just made me think of him.

Everyone has been wrong about someone. If everyone agreed it would be an awfully boring message board.

So keep on going Kerouac, even if I don't agree :D

Did you wear your Dan Williams jersey to the game last night? When I was getting frisked outside entrance 3 I saw a guy wearing an authentic Dan Williams jersey with a sig on the back.

For what it's worth, there was an actual football question in the OP that no one answered. Unfortunately, NFL.com doesn't have any highlights from the first half of the game from the Cards' offense. But here: http://www.azcardinals.com/photos-v...ghlights/21f4fcc9-b733-47ad-8954-567518bcc214 You can see how far back Keith's outside leg is, especially in comparison to the rest of the line. Look at the 0:50 mark.

I'll ask it again: does anyone know another OT who sets up like this? Did anyone else notice?

No one asked, but I thought Dan Williams looked like he has a good start. Gabe Watson looked like he still has a thick foundation and base to work with. I was impressed that Joey Porter stayed disciplined on that end around after the fumble reversal. Cody Brown looks like he can be a piece.

And--to that girl in Section 223 who was wearing a Ravens Boldin jersey: you suck.

all i know is keith got OWNED on that sack.

He got owned worse that I have EVER seen on that sack. I lost a lot of mojo I had for that dude right away because of that sack. It was unreal in a horribly bad way. NOBODY should say they Keith was lights out after that play. Nobody.

You give up one major play like that and you have 16 sacks per year, or a few fumbles; even worse, you might have a dead QB.

According to Wiz, Keith came off the field, with the full knowledge that he screwed up, but had a pretty good idea of where he went wrong technique-wise with the assumption that he'd take the appropriate steps to fix it.

While I didn't zero in on offensive line play for the rest of the game, the impression given by the radio and possibly also the tv crew was that Brandon settled down and played well after that.

Remember, this is a young, inexperienced kid thrown into prime time up against a dominent Pro Bowl pass rusher. (Welcome to the NFL, young 'un!)

It's a tad too early to anhilate the kid. He's got to go thru the learning process, and as they say: "If it doesn't kill him, it will make him stronger."

To make things even worse the Texans only rushed 3 guys on that play. :bang:
