When are they going to tell us about Brandon Webb's condition?

In post #27 of the D-backs vs. Dodgers series thread yesterday, I posted an opinion that Brandon Webb getting hit hard in the ribs with a batted ball has altered his delivery and left him in pain.

A bruised rib is always more painful than a cracked rib.

I believe this topic deserves a thread of its own.

Diamondbacks.com quotes today, ""It's just a matter of baseball being baseball," said catcher Chris Snyder, a close friend of Webb. "You're not going to be perfect every time.

When is Bob Melvin going to step up and take charge of the situation, with his team and with D'backs fans, and let us know what's going on?

Three horrible starts in a row by Webb is hardly a secret from the rest of the league.

And when are Melvin, his pitching coach and his hitting coach going to be held accountable for things such as (1) throwing Wally Scherzer into a stretch run situation, instead of being in the rotation all season or (2) a lineup shut out for 17 innings vs. the second place (now first place) team, until scoring two meaningless runs in the 9th with two outs?

Speaking of Bob Melvin . . .

I want to expound on an opinion I've stated before about Diamondback manager Bob Melvin.

Here is a list of symptoms of Passive-Aggressive Personality Disorder. (I've lived with a couple of family members with it.)

Procrastination (preparing us to see a new closer, then doing nothing)
Intentional inefficiency (batting Young leadoff way too long)
Avoiding responsibility (using the word "little" for everything he says)
Complaining
Blaming others
Resentment
Sullenness
Fear of authority
Resistance to suggestions from others
Unexpressed anger or hostility

The first three symptoms are paramount as Manager.

Bob Melvin should not be in a position of leadership.

At best, he is a classic Bench Coach or Special Assistant to the General Manager (positions he previously held with the D'backs and the Mariners).

I predict he will not be our Manager next year. He'll probably be reassigned as Asst. to the GM, with encouragement to find a position with another organization, as did Mike D'Antoni. I hope he takes his Pitching coach and Batting coach with him.

I certainly don't want to see him managing young players in the Minors. Or serving as Hitting coach (with his Major League batting average). Or any position with individual responsibility.

He's a lifetime assistant. I feel sort of sorry for him, having to play the role of figurehead, when it is so much against his personality disorder.

I feel more sorry for the D'backs and our fans.

Bob Melvin is the Tin Man of baseball and he's turned the Dbacks into the Tin Men.

Somebody call Milhouse and tell him we'll pay whatever it takes to buy the teams soul back.
