Just after 8 p.m. Sunday night, we learned that Notre Dame women’s basketball will be one of four No. 3 seeds in the 2025 NCAA Women’s Tournament. The Irish open tournament play on Friday against No. 14 Stephen F. Austin.

Later that night, with the Irish staff likely pouring over film and scouting reports and early drafts of game plans, we learned when Notre Dame (26-5) will open tournament play at Purcell Pavilion. The Irish and Ladyjacks meet Friday, March 21 at 2 p.m.

Notre Dame hosts one of 16 four-team pods for first- and second-round action at Purcell Pavilion with two first-round games on Friday and a second-round game on Sunday. The other teams in the South Bend pod are No. 6 Michigan and No. 11 Iowa State or Princeton, which will meet Wednesday in a play-in game at 7 p.m. Winners of that game play at 11:30 a.m. Friday.

Let the Madness commence.
