Georgia Bulldogs defensive end Mykel Williams is projected to be a first-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft according to the majority of draft picks. Williams is projected to go anywhere from the No. 10 pick in the draft to the No. 32 pick.
The 6-foot-5, 260-pound defensive end came to Georgia as a five-star recruit. Williams produced right away and helped Georgia win a national championship in 2022. He recorded at least 4.5 sacks in all three of his years at UGA.
However, Williams battled an ankle injury during his junior season in 2024 at Georgia. He never felt 100% after sustaining the injury, but still put together some impressive performances and helped Georgia beat Texas in the SEC championship.
Where is Mykel Williams going in NFL mock drafts?
Jess Root of Cards Wire selected Williams with the No. 16 pick in the first-round of Touchdown Wire's latest mock draft. Williams would boost Arizona's pass rush and have a chance to learn from NFL veteran Calais Campbell.
"Based on the number of top-30 pre-draft visits they have used on defensive front-seven players, this (defensive end) has to be the direction they are going," said Root. Williams has a very high ceiling and is a strong run defender. He is still looking to refine his pass rush skills after posting five sacks during his final season at Georgia.
Arizona Cardinals, Pick No. 16
A lot of Georgia football fans would love to see the Philadelphia Eagles draft yet another Georgia Bulldog. USA TODAY's Nate Davis predicts that's exactly what will happen in the draft.
Davis thinks the Eagles will pick Williams with the final selection of the first-round, which would be an absolute steal. Williams would get to team up with several of his former Georgia teammates in Philadelphia. "Williams could be a phenomenal value at this spot," said Davis.
Philadelphia Eagles, Pick No. 32
Ryan Wilson of CBS has Williams going to the Cincinnati Bengals in the middle of the first-round of the draft. The Bengals could use a pass rusher to pair with star defensive lineman Trey Hendrickson.
"Williams is just 20 years old and he's just figuring out how to play the position," said Wilson. "He's going to get a lot better, and at 6-foot-5, 260 pounds, he already looks the part. It's just a matter of putting it all together."
Cincinnati Bengals, Pick No. 17
ESPN NFL draft analyst Jordan Reid (subscription required) has Williams going higher than any other mock draft in this post. Reid points out Williams' impressive performances against Texas as reasons why he could go in the top 10.
"Williams would be an instant boost on the edge," said Reid. "He's a rugged run defender with good length and awareness." The Chicago Bears have invested a ton in their offense, but they can't forget about their defense.
