The Memphis Grizzlies are on a winning streak as they prepare for the final three games of the regular season.

Memphis beat Charlotte on Tuesday night to win its third-straight game, but starting forward Jaylen Wells suffered a broken wrist after a scary fall. That will necessitate multiple changes to the rotation when the Grizzlies return to the floor on Thursday against the Timberwolves at FedExForum in what will be a massive game for both teams.

Minnesota had a fourth-quarter meltdown on Tuesday in Milwaukee, blowing a 20-point lead at the end of the third quarter and falling a game behind the Grizzlies in the standings. The result of that game will have a major impact on who makes the playoffs and who slips into the Western Conference play-in tournament.

Those weren't the only major news items from Tuesday, because the Nuggets — who are tied with the Grizzlies at 47-32 — announced earlier in the day that they were firing coach Michael Malone, a stunning move with just three games left before the postseason.

The Grizzlies, of course, fired coach Taylor Jenkins with only nine games left.

Memphis is off on Wednesday, but there are a few games that could impact playoff seeding.

Key games tonight in Western Conference playoff race

  • Lakers at Mavericks (6:30 p.m., ESPN)
  • Spurs at Warriors (9 p.m.)
  • Nuggets at Kings (9 p.m., ESPN)
  • Rockets at Clippers (9:30 p.m.)

If the postseason started today...

Though the Grizzlies have won three games in a row, they're still in the No. 7 spot in the Western Conference entering Wednesday because of a four-team tiebreak with the Nuggets, Clippers and Lakers. That would mean the Grizzlies head to the play-in and host the Timberwolves in the No. 7 vs. No. 8 game.

So Thursday's matchup could be a preview of a game next week with even higher stakes.

Grizzlies' remaining schedule

April 10 vs Minnesota (8:30 p.m. TNT)

April 11 at Denver (8 p.m.)

April 13 vs Dallas (2:30 p.m.)
