I have seen alot of threads in here asking about "The Best Of....."

I think it's cool that people are sharing their experiences with different kinds of restaurants around the valley etc.

Although I personally pretty much eat just to make a turd (scientists have discovered that when you stop making turds you die) this forum got me to wondering....

If you had one last place in the valley to have a meal, where and what would it be?

Mine? Sardellas pepperoni pizza and wings. OR (if money was no object) the Prime Rib meal at Bill Johnson's. That's good eatin' right there! http://www.billjohnsons.com/

Mine would be Los Dos Molinas and I would have the Adovada Ribs.

I was thinking about posting a very similar thread but I got distracted a work...darn, pesky bosses always asking for stuff.

Mine would be Atlas Bistro. Cool little bistro tucked in the corner of AZ Wine on Scottsdale and Thomas...or maybe just a little south of Thomas. I have taken a ton of friends and business partners from all over....and they have been consistently wowed by the food. Most people I have taken end up going again and again.

They have a very small menu that changes frequently and is always very interesting. They offer a 3-course and a four course prix fixe option at $38 and $44 and is a great deal for what you get.

Another cool thing about it is that you can purchase the wine next door and then pay a small corkage fee ($8 I think for the wine). They used to wave the corkage, but the owners of the wine shop and the bistro had a falling out. It still is a great deal and you can drink a great bottle of wine at a fraction of what it would cost off of a wine list.

I went to the Valle Luna in Chandler. It was good, but I prefer Abuelos.

I would eat at Don Ruben's on 43rd and Cactus. I love their tacos.

When I was in high school, I worked at the original restaurant on 35th and T-bird and they opened a second place on 35th and Bell called Valle Luna :)

They eventually sold Valle Luna and closed down the original Don Ruben's. Ruben's son has now opened his restaurant using his parents recipes. I'm partial because I grew up with their food.

I've been to Don Ruben's twice now. I think I had spinach enchiladas...very very good.

Are you kidding?? Chipotle? One last meal here and you'd pick Chipotle?

:thud:
seriously.

In the spirit of ASFN, I had a burrito from there for lunch. The burrito wasn't terrible. At least the half that wasn't just white rice.

Chipotle would be one of the places I'd pick too if it was made the same way I had it last time because the quality varies. It was the best burrito and best fast food I've had in my life. It's some good stuff, and I love white rice.

I just decided I needed a change. I don't want to be known as Raja Bell forever and that's what would've happened if I was too lazy to change it. I usually change every couple months.
