1. Jared Gaither
2. Mario Manningham

The Chargers gave long-term contracts to their other starting OTs McNeill and Clary so they may opt to let Gaither walk. If they do resign him long-term, one of their other tackles will most likely be released because they'd have too big of a contract to be a backup. If that were to happen, I'd look at McNeill but not Clary since he sucks.

Last season the Cardinals went after Braylon Edwards, and might have been the team that had a long-term contract worked out for him before he got in trouble and had the offer rescinded. That tells me they are looking at #2 options who may command a somewhat big contract.

McNeil has a serious neck injury and is expected to be released. Chargers plan on keeping Gaither.

Just blows my mind we didn't put a waiver claim in on Gaither when he was released, especially considering our pathetic OT situation.

Yeah, along with Manning....Bell, Grubbs, & Manning......plus sign our own and it will be a successful off-season.....oh, add DeCastro@13 too.....

I don't think Manning is healthy. I would sign Bell (LT), Grubbs (LG) & Gaither (RT). With the money ARZ saves cutting Brown it could pay for half of these guys. I don't think Keith & Brown are starting NFL OT's and can be upgraded by these guys and use mid to late round picks on back ups.

So my draft would look like:

1st Round - OLB Courtney Upshaw or OLB Nick Perry

3rd Round - WR DeVier Posey

4th Round - OT Nate Potter

5th Round - ILB Emmanuel Acho

6th Round - SS Eddie Pleasant

6th Round - OLB Sammy Brown

7th Round - DT Jaye Howard

Backus is worse than Levi, please no lol

Then who ?

Jared Gaither
Jeff Backus
Max Starks
Demetrius Bell
Levi Brown

In no particular order, that is the list of players that have played LT in the NFL.

LT is a HUGE need for this team. A rookie is not going to play there next year.

So who is it going to be ?

1-Demetruis Bell
2-Ben Grubbs
3-Robert Meachem
4-Reggie Nelson
5-Tracy Porter

2 under the radar OT's I like are Anthony Collins from the Bengals and James Lee from TB. In the past, both played well when they filled in for injured starters and are younger guys.

I'd also like to see Mike Nugent brought back in as a kicker to replace Feely. He had a nice year in Cincy and, I thought, was pretty good for the Cards. He's a former 2nd round pick that has now recovered from injuries.

Great points all around---especially the point about K Mike Nugent.

The question about Bell is---can he last a season? He has also been emphatic about re-signing with the Bills.

Tracy Porter would be a huge pickup. He's going to command some big bucks, one would imagine.

I hadn't heard about him wanting to re-sign in Buffalo. I think he will follow the money and Buffalo has to pay a few guys in front of him, but we'll see. However, following the money doesn't usually land a player in Arizona either.

You are forgetting about all of the June 1st cuts that will become available at LT.

This is along the lines of what I was thinking, although I'd substitute Spencer or Tullock for Haggens, and Colston for Garcon. I know he doesn't have the speed Garcon does, but he's a better reciever, I'd be fine with either, but if I had my choice it would be Colston. Would also love to add Finley from GB, Manning likes to use his TEs and not sure we have a good one on the roster at this point.

If we were going to pay 7 million/year for a #2 WR, we would have paid Boldin. Colston, V Jackson, and Reggie Wayne are all pipe dreams.

I prefer Nicks to Grubbs, but I like the idea of snagging on eof these very talented OGs. I don't see the Porter signing, but Nelson is an intriguing player.

Based on what ?

The more and more I look into Jeff Backus, the more I find the statement to be nothing but hogwash.

Backus was better in pass protection than Levi Brown and a bunch of LT that are currently playing.

The guy is a vet, has a few more years we can eek out of him until we, hopefully, groom a younger LT prospect.

Backus worse than Levi Brown ? Prove it.

I mean the Lions only have been passing the ball all over the field the last few seasons, and their QB is brittle. Thus I think you are wrong in your assumption, and Backus would be a good pick up out of the options the Cardinals have laid before them.

OT stats for 2010 (Backus in top 15): http://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2011/06/13/2010-pass-blocking-efficiency-tackles/

OT stats for 2010-2008: http://www.profootballfocus.com/blo...r-pass-blocking-efficiency-offensive-linemen/

There is not one list where Jeff Backus has shown to be worse than Levi Brown in that last 4 years.

How many sacks did the Cardinals give up this year ? 54 sacks, 2nd most in the NFL with the Rams letting up the most with 55 sacks.

How many sacks did the Lions give up this year ? 36

I have made my case.

Having seen the amount of money spent on OTs, I guess I am more in the camp of finding the best value and paying that guy. I think I would prefer Backus at 5 or 6 mil to Levi at 7 or 8 mil. The best teams in the league do not seem to be pooring 8, 9 or 10 mil into average OT talent, so I guess it is not something that we should be doing either.
