There are two conflicting threads on this board. One (quoting Laconfora) says that McCoy would sign with the Chargers before end of day yesterday (Monday). The other (quoting Mortensen) says he left SD without signing and will interview with us today (Tuesday).

Which is it?

There is no time-of-post indicator on the various posts so it's tough to tell which "news" is more recent than others.

Per the most recent twitter updates, he's told the Broncos that he is coaching the Chargers.

Mort hasn't tweeted anything today. The reports this morning and specifically from Kent Somers, who always knows what he's talking about before tweeting, says there is no interview with the cardinals today.

John Clayton was reporting on ESPN this morning that McCoy would take the Chargers job since the Chargers have a better Quarterback.

I understand his point, but if that is the criteria, we could be in for a crap load of trouble.

It has always been the criteria. You want to coach in a place where you have the best chance to succeed.

believe nothing. Look at candidates and create your own opinion and go from there.

Personally, I want horton with a top tier O staff. Haley, Mccoy and Gruden do not impress me like Horton does.

Exactly why we should have kept WHISENHUNT!! We will now get stuck with the ugliest girl at the dance!
Starting to feel the same way. I'd much rather have Whiz than Gruden. I understand the Whiz firing, but this is starting to really suck. :bang: Best thing we can hope for now is Horton snags Norv Turner (but I believe that's a long shot as well).

I think Turner has already accepted the OC job in Cleveland.

It is like people forgot what team they are fans of. What did you all think this process would be like?

We eliminated college candidates because we wouldn't allow them to bring on their entire staff (defensive) which most coaches want.

We eliminated most proven head coaching candidates because Bidwill doesn't want to give the head coach the type of control Whis had.

So we are left bidding on NFL coordinators who are looking for rosters they can hit the ground running with, which we don't have. Looking for cap room to reshape the roster, which we don't have. Who have limited options to bring in coordinators because most of their associates are blocked by the teams they are leaving which we place a priority on.

If you didn't see this coming, you need to put down the kool aid.

Well said. Should have kept Whiz for at least one more year, obviously nobody has Horton as their first or 2nd choice for that matter. The grass ain't always greener, and our organization knows Horton best, and still had him as their 3rd or 4th best candidate.

Good plan Cards! Or as Miami kid says -
