Cardinals Head Coach Ken Whisenhunt had a surprise for his team during Friday morning's OTA. As the team was warming up for practice, Whisenhunt called them together to announce that practice was over and that he was taking them bowling.

I'm liking Whizenhunt more and more. The guy just seems to have the pulse of the team and is always coming up with surprises to keep the team loose and motivated.

This is the kind of coach I love playing for. Small rewards...keeping it fresh. Break the monotony. Build camaraderie.

If anything, this team will be close knit.

In Denny's defense I think he opted not to do something like this because there is a good chance one of the linemen might have mistaken him for a ball and rolled him down the lane.

I think Denny used to take the guys out for Chili dogs.

Denny didn't mix with the players. He would never had done this. Good for Whisenhunt. This helps build teamwork.

This is going to make a better Cardinal team. Its a great start for HC Whiz in trying to build a team.

Wow.....this is more like it, I was afraid that all NFL coaches were like DG....the Living Dead. This is exactly the kind of team-building and unity that Pete Carroll is so well known for.

I liked the first part of the video, when they broke practice with the "NFC
WEST CHAMPS" chant. Yes!!!

Still dont buy your theory that the team gets any "closer" due to outings like this. I think they may run through a wall for the coach however.

Sounds great and all, but how many rookies and young players are we relying on? I think the time on the field would have been valuable.

we will have to disagree on that, then. Your second point is spot on though...these guys have got to be loving Wiz...he works their butts off but still finds time to let them enjoy themselves. In the business world, he'd be a great manager.

“It’s cool, we’ve definitely been getting in some great work and we’ve had good attendance for the off-season program,” continued Wells. “It’s definitely a nice change of pace coming in here, but guys are sweating here too, so there still going to get a little workout. It’s definitely nice to come out here and bond with people that you really never see outside of work.”

Off the subject...I had to drive from Philly to Pitt last week and stayed over in Lancaster and had my first Yeungleing (sp). Quite the nice brew I must say. Have not seen any in around here in Chi. Of course we had a few Iron City's in Pitt. That is a fine beer.
