Just wondering for two reasons.. 1) The Cards will need a CB .. 2) Is Antoine Cason (#5 Arizona) gonna be one of the top CB's? I dont watch much college football so I dont know.. I do watch UofA football and know Cason is crazy.. I'd want him on the Cards.. Prolly one of my all-time Wildcat football players (right behind Chris McAlister)..He's a senior so I know he'll be in the NFL next year.. I heard he was really good.. But how good is he really on a national level?

Ok, so I went and checked some 2008 mock drafts lol..

This site, http://walterfootball.com/draft2008.php, has Cason going #17 and the 2nd CB taken..

This site, http://www.fannation.com/blogs/post/7630?new=true, Has him going #30 and the 2nd CB taken..

This site, http://www.nfldraftdog.com/Mock_Drafts/2008_nfl_mock_draft.htm, has him going #31 and the 2nd CB taken..

This site, http://www.thefootballexpert.com/2008nflmockdraftrose.html, has him going #13 and the 1st CB taken...

This site, http://www.draftace.com/draft2008/mockdraftround1.htm, has him going #7 and the 1st CB taken...

So basically, it looks like Cason will be a 1st round choice and the 1st or 2nd CB taken.. Drafted anywhere from #7 to #31..

Whatever - Its tough to be a pro athlete factory in two sports. And we all know we are gods gift to the association.....

Plus I bet ASwho would be hard pressed to name two football alumni better at their position than Chris McAllister and Tedy.

Maybe Heap and Suggs but thats definitely arguable.....

Anyway Gee, yes Cason is a stud. He is probably underatted due to the fact that he plays in the conference and team he does. He plays against the most prostyle offenses week in and week out and he still has great numbers. If he was in the SEC (where the passing games are still in the 1960's) he would likely be a top 3 pick!

Oh wow - I got a dig at both ASU and the SEC in one post! 2 points for me!

Cue AZBALLER....;)

ASU can field a team at the Florence jail.

Hey Finest, don't forget Briggs. He is one of the best at his position. As for Cason, if he stays healthy he has a very good chance of earning Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year.

This UofA defense is definitely the strongest it has been since the Desert Swarm era. I can't wait until the season begins.

I personally think Cason is a bit overrated. Definitely a first day pick, but not the shutdown guy people project him as. DeSean Jackson will be the first Pac10 player chosen next season and it's quite possible he may the first overall player taken in the draft. I wish I could cue the thread from a couple years back when Sun Devil myopians ripped me for suggesting DeSean was and will be better than Keegan Herring.

He probably is, but he's probably better suited for the NFL where they mix their coverages more. He's got good feet and instincts for the position. He could be a decent second CB or nickel back right out of the gate. Think his combine numbers will ding him enough to chip away at whatever reputation he develops on the field this year.

If the lightbulb ever comes on for Louis Holmes, he'd be the real NFL blue chipper.

Kiper disagrees with you. He has Cason going #10 in the first round!

I'd like to see the Cards take Cason* if they can get him with an early 2nd round pick type of situation, but if there pick is somewhere in the 10-15 range (where I assume it'll be), I think he might be a bit of a reach, but I suppose its really too early to say.

Speaking of Arizona products in the NFL, I really wish the Cards could've got Zach Miller, he's a great blocker (will help their O-line issues), and can catch too. Seeing him on the field w/ Boldin and Fitz would've made me pretty giddy.

*HOLY COW MAO AN ASU FAN IS FOR BRINGING IN A UofA PLAYER IF HE'S QUALIFIED! ALERT THE PRESSES

Thanks for the cue Finest.

I appreciated the rip on the sec. Did any of you catch Snoop Dog ripping Les on ytoub?

But back to the other point, you can log onto thesundevils.com and see how many former ASU players are currently in the NFL...Some of them are even pretty good:)
It looks a little better than UA's list;)

Yeah because Bruschi, McAlister, Briggs, Bell, Manumaleuna, Antonio Pierce..

are so much worse than...

Plummer, Suggs, Heap, Hagan, Levi Jones, McDonald???? Am i leaving anyone out?

Here is Syracuse though...

McNabb, Harrison, Dwight Freeney, Donovan Darius, Will allen, Keith Bulluck, Dee Brown, Quentin Harris, Kyle Johnson, Olando Mare, Kevin Sampson....
and thats leaving some off. That would be a pretty nasty team if you put some scrubs around those guys.

Marvel Smith is a Pro Bowl LT. Derek Smith has led his team in tackles 9 of 11 seasons. Zach Miller will become an immediate starter for the Raiders. Adam Archuletta's reunion with Lovie Smith should revive his career; he was a borderline Pro Bowl safety for the Rams. Mike Karney is having a decent career for a blocking back, joining Terrelle Smith as two of the better blocking fullbacks in the game.

ASU will have some 20 alumni on NFL active rosters this season. In case you haven't heard, Plummer is "retired."

I'm really not to impressed with Syracuse either...ua could field a similar team, except they wouldn't have a qb.

Disagree, Gaddabout, Adam Archuletta is a mediocre player whose best asset has been to get three different teams to overpay him.

You have to admit, that's a pretty good skill to have. :D

DeJuan Tribble, BC
Terrell Thomas, USC
Dwight Lowery, San Jose St. (although I question his competition)
Zach Bowman, Nebraska
Mike Jenkins, USF

Those are the top senior corners to come out along with Cason.

Don't know, but last year the Redskins paid him to sit on the bench, then dumped him. Of course, that was after the Rams dumped him first.

It's because Archuleta is a linebacker playing safety. He's not a Cover 2 guy, nor is he someone who's going to line up 10 yards off a receiver and play straight man. Everyone but the Redskins seemed to understand this. He was Pac-10 DP of the Year and a finalist for the Dick Butkus Award his senior season as a hybrid linebacker.

Lovie Smith gets Archie. He uses him as a hybrid safety/rover, not unlike the way the Cards use Adrian Wilson. Archie's faster, though.
