I'm not so much interested in who goes where, but more of who is holding down a job when the carousel stops. I added my thoughts for fun.

1-Andy Reid (KC)
2-Chip Kelly (Cleveland)
3-Lovie Smith (San Diego)
4-Mike McCoy (Buffalo)
5-Jon Gruden (Chicago)
6-Jay Gruden (???)
7-Doug Marrone / Bill O'Brian (Philly)

and then maybe Dirk Koetter or Bill O'Brian.

So essentially I think we should have our pick of Jay Gruden, Dirk Koetter or Ray Horton.

In that case, have to go with RH

No Norv Turner on the list anywhere or is he done as HC?

I guess. It just sucks being the worst head coaching vacancy.

How is this the worst HC vacancy because I just don't see it? Even Whisenhunt supporters yesterday were saying this team was a QB away from being competitive, now all of a sudden this is the worst vacancy? Come on.

I guess I should list my reasoning's...

1-Andy Reid (KC): Line focused head coach with RB to run offense and a defense to give his offense some breathing room.

2-Chip Kelly (Cleveland): Aggressive new owner that wants to make a splash.

3-Lovie Smith (San Diego): Reserved coach for reserved city. Has talent on defense that he can work with and a QB who should be able to improve.

4-Ken Whisenhunt (Buffalo): I originally had this as McCoy but I think he will turn it down. Whisenhunt makes sense for this franchise and the types they hire.

5-Jon Gruden (Chicago): One of the few jobs he would come back for IMO. Has QB in place, and a decent defense to support him.

7-Doug Marrone / Bill O'Brian (Philly): Laurie(sp?) the Eagles owner has stated not to look for a splash signing. He stated the Reid hire was one he did with a bunch of personal homework. I think he has had his eye on these two East Coast guys and will give one of them a chance to shine.

Disregard this entire post, as I am an idiot.

Not out of the realm of possibility, but id be shocked if Marrone left Syracuse after saying it was his dream job to coach his alma mater. Of course, things change...who knows

Now, there is no GM, no QB, an owner who is trying to saddle the new HC with Kolb, a poor interior offensive line and a two injury prone RBs. Oh yeah, and you may be saddled with a defensive coordinator. It is a mess to come in and try to work around.

I would be surprised to see Whisenhunt as a HC next season. I think OC is his best shot.

I'm pretty sure that he said in his press conference that Kolb's situation would be discussed and determined with the new head coach. Actually I found the part of the press conference where he said that he would discuss with the coaching candidates about making the decision about whether Kolb is the right guy or not. Yes Bidwill isn't ready to give up on him, but if the coaches interviews don't like him than his position could change.

Not me, I see him getting a HC job this year if he wants, but he would be better off taking the 5.5 mil and playing golf since he is a scratch golfer anyway.

Well you can argue there wasn't a GM to begin with. Graves has been handling the contract side of things the last few years anyway. To me the firing of Graves was more about sending a message than anything else.

There is no guarantee the new hire will be saddled with a DC as its almost a given Horton will be a HC elsewhere if not in AZ.

Unless you heard a different press conference than I did the new HC will not be saddled with Kolb either. MB said he prefers Kolb to develop, but that would be up to the incoming coaching staff.

And lastly, the bad OL, injury prone RBs and the rest of the mess on this roster was all created by Whisenhunt and still would have been an issue next year either way.

Again, I'm just not seeing it.

Rumor has it that if you hire Michael Lombardi as your GM, you could get Nick Saban for your HC.

I suspect that only works for Cleveland, though, but I don't really know how Twitter rumors work.

CLE - Maybe Horton. I think it is his only chance to get a HC spot this offseason. Haley, McCoy, Shanahan, Mike Zimmer, & McDaniels have a shot also. To me, this is the worst coaching opportunity in the league.

PHL - Chip Kelly - Most forward thinking owner who needs a coach. A restructured Vick can run this offense with McCoy & Brown till Chip finds his successor. Jackson & Maclin can really run it also.

CHI - Kirk Ferentz - Beloved in the midwest. Blood and Guts coach. Perfect for the Bears & that division.

SD - Ken Whisenhunt - Perfect place for Whiz to land. More golfing in his future.

BUF - Lovie Smith - BEST 4-3 coach on the market. Horton has no shot IMO.

ARZ- Andy Reid - Perfect landing spot. Does he have a franchise QB? No, but he does have one that knows his offense like the back of his hand till he finds the right guy.

KC- Bill O'Brien - Major ties to Pioli. Great fan base. Perfect landing spot for a coach who knows how to get teams through bad situations.

How can you say Horton will be a head coach when it looks like he is the 8th or 9th best option out there?

From what it sounds like Andy Reid, Lovie Smith, Ken Whisenhunt, Chip Kelly, Jon Gruden, and Bill O'Brian all sound like they are higher on the want list for teams than Horton. While I think Horton gets looks, I believe this isn't the year for him to get a shot because of all of the candidates out there and owners natural preference to have an offensive minded head coach.

Heck....

Lovie
Whiz
Reid
John Gruden
Holmgren
Kelly

Horton is in the category below those top-6. For the final 7th spot he is in a group with Zimmer, McCoy, McDaniels, O'Brien, Ferentz, Marrone, Shurmur, Gailey, Norv Turner, Jay Gruden, Brian Billick, Musgrave, Arians, and the DC of San Fran.

Even if 2 or 3 of the top 6 dont get jobs the odds a slim he gets in that group with his resume.

How in the heck can anyone think he is a lock to leave? If you are confident about it.... then you are also wearing a huge pair of blinders.

I'll be really surprised if there are seven "new" head coaches in 2013. I expect that there will be a lot of musical chairs, and we'll only see two or three "new" head coaches this year. So...

CLE - Nick Saban
PHI - Jon Gruden
SD - Ken Whisenhunt
BUF - Lovie Smith
CHI - Jay Gruden
ARI - Andy Reid
KC - Josh McDaniels
