I am wonder who still collects baseball cards?
I was an avid collector myself from '85 (when I was 8) and stopped collecting right around 6th or 7th grade....
My oldest sister had collected cards in the late 70s-early 80s, but for some reason my dad really didnt become fully interested until the day I returned home from school with a collectors guide I purchased at a bookfair and then before I knew it..him and I were going to Baseball Card shows every Saturday for the next 5+ years and also to all these baseball card shops... We'd purchase complete sets (mainly Topps) and also trading sets (ones that were released after the postseason that would include updated cards of those who switched teams before that season began or important rookies).... Our subscription to Beckett became our bible and we had amassed quite an extensive and valuable collection... Unfortunately...when I entered my early teenage years my interest in card collecting waned, however, my dad continued to buy them for a cpl of laters afterwards... I had several of the more sought-after rookie cards from the 80s (which were all in mint condition), but the value did deppreciate over time... Well...I had planned on keeping my card collection to pass along to my children (whenever I finally have some), however, I was forced to sell them when I had to move out of the condo I was living at w/my mother and I had nowhere to store them....
I guess this will become a poll... who still collects or has at one time collected baseball cards and also I guess you could list your most prized cards...
I'll never forget that a vendor at certain cardshows would give out Grab Bags (which consisted of sealed envelopes of an assortment of baseball cards and they were only $1 dollar each)...well.. one time I got a 1975 Nolan Ryan card which I havent checked on the value in a long time, however, it definitely far more exceeded just 1 mere $.....
