Danny Fortson should be public enemy number one! However, is he really hurting the Suns the most?

I used to absolutely hate Jason Kidd, but now I could really care less about him.

Wheres the entry for "None of the above - Basketball is a sport, watched for casual enjoyment and entertainment and to take it so seriously and personally causes it to lose any value whatsoever."???

This would be funny if it wasn't so sad.

I think David Stern has crushed the immediate future of the NBA with his phobic emphasis on marketing young selfish punk stars instead of great teams, great play, and strong rivalries.

The game will recover, I think, but Stern has got to go.

Mark Cuban has been a breath of fresh air and Nellie's brand of run-and-shoot, no defense hoops, has helped too.

Coaches like Pat Riley squeeze the fun and beauty out of the game and replace it with thuggery. Stern has allowed that to happen.

I confess, I long for the days of the 128-122 wins and the 118-110 losses with neither Westphal nor Walter Davis playing any defense at all.

Some of these 85-81 bore fests just don't make me want to invest two and a half hours and a long drive down to AWA.

Man I agree with this. I love basketball but the current NBA is like watching Jerry Springer on ludes....

Are you kidding? David Stern is highly regarded as the best commishoner in the history of the league, or at least one of the best. He's certainly not perfect, but he's a human being and nobody is. What would you suggest to get back to the 128-122 games?

Even if you were to argue that coaches like Pat Riley has taken all the beauty out of the game, how is that Stern's fault? You cannot suggest that Stern should disallow anybody from coaching in the NBA if they preach tough, gritty defense before offense as the key to winning a championship. Besides, Pat Riley coached one of the most exciting basketball teams in league history - the 80s Lakers. To suggest that he has ruined the league is pretty ludacris.

I wish games were a little more high-scoring as well, but it's not David Stern's fault that they are not. He, just as much as any of us, wants the same thing. It's just, with the way defenses are playing these days, it's very difficult to score 120+ points anymore. Even the Dallas Mavericks, a team that has as much offensive firepower as any team in recent memory, simply cannot on average score that many points.

David Stern promotes what people like, and that's individual match-ups. But he was doing that in the 80s as well, when he promoted the Bird-Magic, Drexler-Jordan, Jordan-Bird and all the other rivalries of the 80s that he did promote. Nothing's changed in that respect.

My guy for this list is Kenyon Martin. But you didn't list his name.

Jahidi will get a shot at him tonight though. I'd even give Archie a shot at him for a minute or two.

Archie's got "enforcer/thug" written all over his future resume.

I agree Matt. I'm not really sure how you can blame David Stern for the low-scoring in today's NBA games. IMO there are a few reasons the scoring is lower.

1. Teams actually play defense. I've watched some of the old games where most teams averaged over 100 points per game. There is almost no defense being played. It's pretty fun to watch, but I'm not sure how you can tell teams to stop playing defense to make the game more exciting. It's just not going to happen.

2. Everybody is playing a bunch of unpolished kids. Now even the European players are young. The biggest problem with everybody drafting teenagers is that the draft is supposed to help the bad teams get better quickly. Instead they are drafting projects. Most of these younger players are amazing physical specimens, but they lack the fundamentals of players drafted in the past.

3. A lot of the coaches in the NBA like to control the games from the benches. The game gets slowed down. These offenses don't shoot the ball nearly as quickly either. They work the ball around for what should be a better shot. However shooting percentages have gone down. Nevertheless it results in many fewer shots per game.

4. The talent pool has been somewhat watered down because of the expansion teams. 15-20 years ago there were no Toronto Raptors, Memphis grizzlies, Orlando Magic, Minnesota Timberwolves, Miami Heat, or New Orleans Hornets. Of course I'm not sure how much that really hurts things because 15-20 years ago there weren't all of these great foreign players.
