Auburn basketball will open its March Madness run on Thursday against an in-state foe.
The top-seeded Tigers will face No. 16 seed Alabama State on Thursday at 1:50 p.m. CT in Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky. The Hornets earned the right to face Auburn by defeating St. Francis on Tuesday, 70-68. Alabama State secured the win thanks to an Amarr Knight layup with 0:01 remaining in the game.
St. Francis dominated the offensive aspect of the game by shooting 50% from the field and 71% from the free throw line. The Red Flash led for 31:38 of game time, and held an advantage of 12 points. However, the Hornets turned 15 St. Francis turnovers into 26 points.
