Who Gets the 8th seed in the west?

since it's likeley the suns will get the top seed, who will be their opponent?

Lakers? Nuggets? T Wolves?

i hope to see the lakers out of the playoffs this year. You got your wish Kobe, now it's time to live with it.

Back when we had the poll, I voted for the Wolves and Lakers to get the last two spots. Odom's injury probably wrecks the Lakers' chances, but I still think Minnesota will find a way to sneak in. Just don't ask me whether Denver or Memphis will get knocked out in the process!

I know I'll catch some crap for this, but I think Denver will really give the Phoenix Suns trouble if Camby is healthy. Both of the Suns narrow victories over Denver have come with Camby out. I wouldn't even be totally surprised if a healthy Denver team swept the Phoenix Suns.

Ideally I would like to see Sac fall to the 8th seed (assuming we get the first seed). It could definately happen too. Right now Denver is only 2 games back in the loss column, and Houston, Memphis, and Denver are all playing better ball then them.

We play both Denver and Sac twice more this year, so those games could have a big impact on what happens in the standings.

I won't say sweep but I do not want to face Denver in the first round. They worry me more than anyone else in the bottom 4 playoff teams.

sweep? no way. but they could take a series from the suns. we've actually played a lot of good teams without some of their best players. from memory:

dallas - played 'em w/o dampier, terry, nowitzki (i think once), stack at different times.
denver - played 'em w/o camby
memphis - played 'em w/o swift, gasol, and sg whose name i can't remember
san antonio - played 'em w/o duncan and manu
sactown - brad miller
pacers - j o'neal, artest (though most teams got these benefits)


and a bunch more, but i can't really concentrate (damn day job!)

true, but relatively speaking we've been pretty healthy this year (knock on wood - puh, puh, puh). if i'm not mistaken, of our top 8 players either nash or barbs has missed the most games and they're right around 6 games. i think in comparison to other top teams we've prolly been the beneficiary of playing other teams when they are at less than full strength an unusual amount of times. at least it seems that everytime we've got a big game the other team has one or two key components missing. i'm not dissin' the suns, you line up and play who's on the court, and they've shown the ability to get it done. just an observation.

I think Denver will edge Memphis for the 7th spot leaving Memphis in 8th.

Memphis has all of their players back now, so I wouldn't be surprised if they go on a run and try to catch Houston.

I think we'll win and the biggest reason is Amare, if we're shooting bad he can still, most of the time, be automatic...how many teams have options like that? The only one I can think of is O'neal.

Denver has won 14 of their last 15 - losing only to the Suns. But they play 8 of their final 14 on the road, so we will get a better idea about how good they really are.

I'm not sure the Suns could expect an easy series with any of the possible matchups (I think the Lakers are totally out of contention). When the Suns play hard the entire game and hit their shots, they can beat anyone. When the lose focus or let the refs get into their heads, they can look pretty bad. It won't matter who the Suns are playing if they don't play their best.

yes - but we also beat Seattle on the road, Memphis with their guys back on the road, DENVER, Dallas - without Nash, the Pistons and so on and so forth - Denver doesn't have ONE of those impressive wins - that's my point.

Tonight's game suggests the Suns simply match up with the Nuggets well. Karl is inclined to use a lot of trapping defense, but the Suns are hard to trap due to their speed. The Suns have shot well in both games since he took over and tonight did it without Amare.

I know the Phoenix Suns can only beat the teams that take the court against them. I also realize that Amare Stoudemire was out last night. I still don't like how they match up against the Denver Nuggets if they have Anthony, Camby, and Martin healthy. For that matter I also don't really like their chances against a healthy Dallas squad either.

Perhaps I'm just preparing myself for the worst in the hopes that I'm pleasantly surprised with a great playoff run.

The hardest first-round matchup would be Mem, Houston, Denver, Sac, in that order. It's unlikely that Sac would fall so much. So, Denver is still easier to handle than either Mem. or Houston.
