Who do you think should be sent down to AAA Tucson when Randy Johnson makes his return?

After seeing each guy get a couple of starts, if it were me I would send down Gonzalez. He's not bad but I just don't feel like he's quite ready to take on Major League batters. He looked great in his first start, but don't forget that he was facing the Nationals. I just don't see how you can send down Owings at this point after the starts he has had so far. I would send down Doug Davis but I believe he would have to clear waivers and I don't think they would try that.

Who do you think should be sent down?

Edgar Gonzalez can't be sent down without passing through waivers. He wouldn't make it down without some other team claiming him.

Oh really. I didn't know that. Where can you go to find that stuff out. I know I heard somewhere where Davis couldn't be sent down without clearing waivers. I know it has something to do with the contracts or something but I don't know exactly how it works.

I really hope Owings isn't the odd man out. I'd really hate to see him sent down because I've been really impressed with him so far this year.

Unfortunately the rules regarding minor league options (basically if a player does not have minor league options left he cannot be sent down without going through waivers, so it doesn't really have anything to do with the contract the player has signed) get sort of complicated and they deal with how long a player has been on the forty man roster and how many of those years they have been sent to the minors. I do not know of any websites that have all of that information available for each player. Doug Davis certainly doesn't have any options remaining.

I see. Sounds pretty confusing to me. I guess it basically keeps them from bringing a guy up and then sending him down constantly... I know I probably sound pretty ignorant on this subject but I really have no idea how it works... And I consider myself a fairly knowlegable baseball fan

You can send a guy up and down as many times in one year as you want and it counts as one option.

I just realized that and was hoping I could edit it.:doi:
lol... I wasn't trying to show you up or anything, it happens sometimes. I just saw the random **** and it made me wonder, then I saw the part about Tracy being thrown out, so I figured I'd let you know you were in the wrong thread lol.

Edgar gets moved to the pen, Nippert will get sent down. The club won't lose Gonzales for nothing. He'll still be up here but in a different role, most likely long relief. I still see this team making a deal down the road. We've got some good arms as trading pieces.
