One thing we know for sure, Danny Wolf transferring to play basketball at Michigan has been a good thing.

The 20-year-old helped lead the Wolverines to a 27-9 overall record (14-6 in the Big Ten), playing and starting in all 36 games, and was pivotal in their first two games against UC San Diego and Texas A&M in the NCAA tournament.

But what do we know about the Glencoe, Ill., native? Here are five things about him:

He transferred from an Ivy League school

Wolf first played basketball at Yale University (2022-24) where he received theJohn C. Cobb Award as the rookie of the year.

But during the portal transfer this year, he was one of 11 newcomers to the Michigan roster.

He's Jewish and a citizen of Israel

Wolf was born to parents Tina and Joe Wolf. The family is also Jewish. And with Wolf being Jewish, it is a rarity in high-level basketball. He keeps kosher at home and on the road.

He received Israeli citizenship a few years ago and played for their under-20 national team in the European Championships in 2023, helping them to a silver medal. He posted 17 points, 16 rebounds, four assists, three blocks and two steals in the title game.

Also, Wolf and his two older brothers, Josh and Jake, had their bar mitzvahs in Israel, at the historic Western Wall, which dates back more than 2,000 years.

He is tall

Wolf is 7 feet tall. Yes, you read that correctly. And weighs 250 pounds.

Speaking of his brothers — both at 6 feet, 10 inches — also played college basketball. Josh played at Lehigh (2016-18) while Jake played at Washington University (2021-23).

He has some impressive stats

Wolf (13.0 ppg and 9.8 rpg) is tied for the Big Ten lead with 15 double-doubles (Maryland's Derik Queen and Julian Reese). Wolf, the Big Ten rebounding leader, has 19 of U-M's 28 10-plus rebound games.

Wolf is also second on U-M with 131 assists (3.6 apg). He has 51 of his 131 assists to Vladislav Goldin — the most between any two Wolverines.

He's up for a big award

Wolf, in his first season with the Wolverines, has been named a finalist for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame's Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year. The winner will be announced during the Final Four weekend April 5-7 at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
