Wade Miley earned the top of the rotation last season and now has the experience to handle it.
But I expect that, unless Ian Kennedy falls apart in Spring Training, he will keep the spot.
The contrasts in the way Kirk Gibson manages the position players and the pitching staff are interesting. Most of the position players came to the park last season never quite knowing if they were starting or on the bench.
Although there were changes to the starting and relieving rotations during the season, he gave pitchers more of an opportunity to settle into their role. But I'd be surprised if he makes that change.
So I can't cast a vote against my preference. Miley
should be the opening day starter but Kennedy probably
will be. I'll be happy to be wrong about that.
