I think there are only 3 contenders and there are only 5 rookies who ahve palyed on a regular basis.

-------------AB--R---H---HR--RBI--SB--CS--BB---BA---OBP---SLG
Willy Taveras403-54--117--3--20--27--10--16--.290--.326--.355
Garrett Atkins302-36--85---7--47---0----3--26--.281--.341--.404

------------G--GS---IP----H--R--ER--BB---SO--W--L--ERA
Brad Halsey-21-20--125.1-145-70-53--27---69---7--7--3.81

Besides these 3 there is no one else that comes close. I think Halsey era is a big factor and if he can finish 13 and 9ish I think he is the clear winner, but I think this is a very week years for rookies.

Around these parts, some tend to believe Zach Duke could wind up getting the ROTY award, despite having spent part of the season in AAA. I've also heard Jeff Francouer's name mentioned, but like Duke, he spent almost half the season in Triple A. Both have put up solid numbers (Francouer has 10 Homers, Duke's 6-0 with an ERA of 1.87 in 9 starts ) however I'm wondering how many starts/ABs one has to have to be considered for the ROTY.

If Francoeur or Duke keep playing well they probably have the best chance, but I wouldn't count on it yet. Francoeur was hitting .275 at AA and has 0 BB (he's playing over his head). Duke could also very easily be figured out.

Of Taveras, Atkins, and Halsey, Halsey is the most useful player so he would be my choice.

You would think with all the rookies they play someone in Atlanta should get it but Duke is pitching for the Pirates who normally don't gve their pitchers alot of run support, so Duke is my NL ROTY.

Perfect point.

In my opinion, if he's eligible, and continues to pitch like this, he's a shoe in. The only thing (non-meltdown related) that could hinder him from getting it is if McClendon and Company do as they've claimed and shut Duke down, limiting his innings.
